STRUGGLING WITH UNDERSTANDING OF QUESTIONS AND FORMING ARGUM

Hi

Could you please tell me what you think the following questions below imply and how you would go about understanding the question and the tasks expected of you and how you would go about completeting those tasks and achieving the goal of doign what is asked?

PS: this level 8 Republic of Irelan college level in English:

Symbolism and imagery play a significant role in the representation of the South. Choose an image or symbol that grows in significance in the work of two authors and compare the way in which they use it to give meaning to their work ( essay one) American South essay.


Write an essay analysing the adaptation of classical myth in two of the following: Venus and Adonis, Hero and Leander, Comus. (Essay two) Early Modern Literature Poetry and Prose.


Write an essay exploring the theme of “otherness” in two of the following plays: The Jew of Malta, The Rover, Women Beware Women. (Essay three) Early Modern literature Theatre/Drama

I have a huge tendency to go astray with my arguments and discussions in my essay and I also dissuss irrelevant info without being aware of it and my sentences are all messy, don't make sense are are not connected or in right order.

I have a great difficulty in understanding tasks, how to do a task and understand certain concepts as well as the question itself and how to answer the question in an academic way and have great tendency to include too personal stuff into my essays which usually lead to me failling an essay. I have no idea when I am being biased or too personal and may believe that what I am writing is ok. I don't understand the difference between right and wrong and original argument or idea within an essay and what I say often sounds confusing to a lecture.

Sorry can't help much here as I'm totally in the dark re those books.

I had to write an argument about the soldiers shot at dawn in the Great War for deserting but who might have in later times been recognised and treated for shellshock/combat stress.I made a mess of it as didn't get the point myself either. Could probably do a much better job of it now but annoys me as war was always my specialist subject even back then.

I suggest you speak to your tutor, fellow students or your support worker. I think what is required is to write about two or more opposing interpretations and include your own conclusions about their validity.

bit of a late reply but would student support - ie academic skills be able to help you structure the essay? By braking down the title and structuring the essay into subsections this would give you a real pointer on how to proceed.
