hyperflexible limbs
I read somewhere that hyperflexible limbs are related to dyspraxia. i did a test on hyperflexibility and I scored 9/9. I met a girl who is also dyspraxic and (apart from sharing experiences about things that we find difficult and showing each other the different scars of silly accidents), she also has extremely flexible knees, fingers and elbows. Is everyne here hyperflexible? it would be interesting to compare

Im a 29 year old guy who is dyspraxic. I know us dyspraxics are meant to have terrible coordination but have very good dancing skills. However I would struggle to pick up new routines in a class so i teach myself new moves in my own time. And when I hit the club I woow everyone

Yeah I have hypermobility as my phsiotherapist puts it - I also have flat feet and a podiatrist has just made special sho inserts - just foiud out both of these are related closely to dyspraxia.
Re: hyperflexible limbs
Yep all my joints are very loose.
It doesn't make me flexible in a good way though haha, my muscles don't work like that! My fingers are hyper-flexible though, freaks people out...

Re: hyperflexible limbs
Is there an opposite to hyper flexible limbs cos I think I have that , supposed to do stretches in the morning to loosen them off, never do though probably why I'm always pulling ligaments and damaging muscles oh well
.
Re: hyperflexible limbs
Yup (i thought this was in a notehr post ?) New evidence suggest that 90% of people with hyperbein joint Syndrome also have Dyspraxia (Local OT from NHS informed me of that ) . It's looking like that one physical marker they have been after to say yes you have Dyspraxia.
Re: hyperflexible limbs

Re: hyperflexible limbs
I'm very and love salsa dancing.i'm in a all girl salsa group and the dance teacher usually writes the choreography, unfortunately i can't follow this and work out the steps by practicing really hard after class.
Re: hyperflexible limbs
yh, im hypermobile. i get very clicky ankles, and they seem to try to fold under my weight if im not wearing boots.
some people get a lot of laughs out of my flexability, for example, when i was in cadets, one girl really seemed to enjoy bending my fingers right back.

Re: hyperflexible limbs
I'm the same. My hands are really weak but it's my wrists and ankles give me most trouble. My ankles would go if I run and when I go to pick up things my wrists go. Very painful. when I was younger I could click them back into place. Not anymore. I have little stress balls in work and a yoke in my car to work the muscles but I keep forgetting to use them!

Re: hyperflexible limbs
I don't have hyperflexibility, but I love dancing, and am learning salsa. I am okay with my part as the follower dancer, but I have tried to lead and can only go to a certain level. I always wanted to learn tap, but had to give it up out of sheer frustration. I was in tears of anger as I just couldn't do the steps fast enough. Too much co ordination and sequencing skills required!
