Cuttlery

I've always had a problem with cuttlery, but my skills seemed to have regressed in the last 6 months. I'm finding it ok to use cuttlery unless I have to cut anything. I've been finding it next to impossible to cut anything without sending half my food flying off the plate. I can't grip the cuttlery properly and it looks terribly awkward.
I know during times where I've suffered a lot of meltdowns and sensory overload it gets worse, but this time it has been going on for a prolonged period of time.
Any tactics or ideas? Perhaps different cuttlery?
This is the cuttlery I use at the moment from Argos http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... TTLERY.htm
