I like the style of it Jayne and it looks like you'll be having some good content on it when it's done.
What I would say is that in my browser - Firefox at 1024x768 resolution - the homepage and notebooks pages are too wide for my screen so I'd need to horizontally scroll to see it all.
I can have a look at in in Dreamweaver at some point if you wish, but I assume it's that you've given the text column a specific width in pixels (as opposed to %) so when next to the large image it's pushing the image over the edge of the screen. There's various ways you could get around it. To be honest though the easiest answer would be to put the text directly above or below the image as not much space is going to be available for it if you try to fit it side by side the image in adjacent columns. If you do absolutely want to have the text next to the image there are various workarounds which I can explain and work for you if you wish.
