Hi
I have just applied for this allowance with student finance england as I am embark upon a degree - now in my 30s but better late than never. I asked annette dickens recommended on this forum to assess me and she has given me an education profile of strengths and weaknesses which says there is evidence to say I have dyspraxia. I had thought I was for years but never brave enough to go for an assessment.
the allowance, as far as I know, is a one off payment and can be used to support an application to SFE for the allowance which you dont have to pay back!! It is needs assessed so I am waiting for a needs assessor arrange dby student financ england to give me one. Hopefully it will pay for weekly lesson at university and other things annette recommended in the report whilst I do my degree.
All the best. John
