Has anyone actually found a calendar sync setup that stays reliable?

Post by Austtin »

Hi everyone
I'm struggling with something that probably sounds simple, but it's becoming a real problem for me. Right now I have a paper planner, Google Calendar, reminders on my phone, and an app that was recommended by my occupational therapist. The problem is that none of them really work together. I don't miss appointments because I completely forget about them, I miss them because I can never remember where I wrote them down. What drives me mad is getting calendars to stay synced across devices. I use an Android phone for work and an older iPad at home. Even when everything is connected to the same Google account, I still end up with events showing on one device but not the other, duplicated entries, or random time shifts. I've been dealing with this for months and I still haven't found a setup that feels dependable. For most people this might just be an annoying tech issue, but for me it has a much bigger impact. I have dyspraxia, and I rely heavily on routines and external organisation systems. When those systems stop working properly, things get messy very quickly.
I've looked into things like Notion, Fantastical, IFTTT and Zapier. Some of them seem powerful, but honestly I'm not sure I have the energy to build and maintain a complicated workflow. If it breaks a few weeks later, I'm back at square one.
So I'm curious: has anyone found a simple calendar sync solution that actually stays reliable over time like syncthemcalendars? Or maybe a combination of apps and devices that works well for you, especially if you also have dyspraxia or similar organisational challenges?
I'd really appreciate hearing what's worked (or hasn't worked) for other people.

Hi and welcome Austtin

Logic would dictate that if you were ysing Google calendar across all your devices they would synch using the cloud. Is it possible to check each device to check to see if automatic synch is enabled?

Could you be putting gates in but inadvertently adding them to a team calendar or entering as wrong date/time. I've found Outlook has a tendency to do that finger on the mouse scroll wheel if often to blame,

I'm just dyspraxic but do have some ADHD traits but not sufficently sure I'd meet diagnostic threshold to bother pursuing assessment

Hope That Helps a little.
