Dyspraxia-walk like a drunk?
I have a question about gait/walking. My wife used to say I walked funnily. I asked my stepdaughter the other night. She said not funny but wobbly . I said 'like a weeble?' . She said 'No like drunk! Anyone else have gait/walking issues?

Hi, yes I have slight issues with wobbling as I walk. Though with me it's more a slight woddle, I seem to go more onto the left side while walking. I put more pressure onto my left ankle than the right and the right side is lighter and looser as though it's just following the left. I sometimes don't walk completely in a straight line either.

I run quite clumsily aswell, stamping my feet and it echos down the street or wherever I'm running. A heavy footedness I suppose.firemonkey wrote:I tend to veer from side to side.

I step lightly and walk evenly (for the most part, sometimes i lean to hard into one of my steps and i’ll have to catch myself) but i am always miscalculating space and hitting my hips on walls and corners. And i randomly start to tip over one way or the other when im standing. I like to put my weight into one of my legs (standing straight is tiring) when standing and thats when i start to fall over lol.

I don't have a problem with walking 95% of the time. That other 5% I lose my balance every now and then. I tend to walk heavily from time to time.
Apparently so. But suppose you throw a coin enough times......suppose one day, it lands on its edge. (Said by Kain in Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2)

Re: Dyspraxia-walk like a drunk?
I did as a child, so my mother took me to a doctor who referred me to some kind of specialist who prescribed the ugliest shoes known to man. They did nothing except get me bullied and made fun of in school. The doctor had no idea it was related to dyspraxia. Finally I started forcing myself to walk properly in front of doctors so I could shed those God forsaken shoes. Eventually I think I grew out of it for the most part, but I am very clumsy, frequently falling or near-falling, and looking like a 'prat' ( by the way I have no idea what that word means because I'm American but I think it means
"ass," from the context in which I've seen it used on this site. Anyone, please feel free to clue me in on what these words mean, it would be much appreciated.

Further to this question. Do you find the more anxious and self conscious you are the worse it is?
