Hi there, I'm Tom, but my friends call me Bungle due to my inherant bear-like appearance lol! I'm 22, residing in the deepest southen area of England (Other people tend to call it Poole) and hold the possibly delusional desire to make a living writing comic books!
I was diagnosed with dyspraxia when i was 13, yet never really looked into it until now. Last year I also discovered that I've got alopecia, and it has got me wondering if the two could possibly be linked... But that's a story for another time.
I got diagnosed much younger and only started looking into it properly recently. It's kinda odd seeing things you assumed were personality lumped in with dyspraxias symptons isn't it? I'm still not quite sure how to think of it.
Here's hoping you like it here.
An wow - you've got a picture for your avatar. Now I think about it I don't know what anyone here looks like. I kinda assumed fuzzy was a tribble from their username but that's pretty unlikely :P Maybe I should start a post a picture of yourself thread so I know who I'm talking to.
Here's another newbie to the group. Although I don't actually fit the criteria for membership!!
I don't suffer from dyspraxia or any associated problems nor do my blood family. But my partner does and I'm currently struggling to maintain a tolerant attitude and provide support to the extent that I have put our wedding plans on hold and given back my engagement ring.
All the documentation that I have read tends to deal with dyspraxia etc in children and the problems associated with their growing up. I've so far found nothing that deals with adult sufferers and, more importantly for me, the people who befriend them.
I would be grateful if any one could point me in the direct of any good literature, paper or web based.
Welcome to the forum Linda. Us dyspraxics can be a difficult lot to manage. I'm sure my ex-girlfriends would agree with that, lol. I can't recommend any books explaining dyspraxia in adulthood myself although others may be able to. However if there's aspects of your partner you'd like to try to better understand feel free to ask away.
