does hypnosis/nlp help you?
Hello has anyone tried self-hypnosis to help them manage their dyspraxia? Either going to see a hypnotist or purchasing a self-help book or downloading a hypnosis mp3 track. I bought myself a book by Paul McKenna called change your life in 7 days and I listened to the CD and I found a new attitude and new found confidence. I still make mistakes and forget things but I dont beat myself up about it as much providing you keep listening to it on a regular basis. So has hypnosis worked for you?
Re: does hypnosis/nlp help you?
Hi and welcome. Sorry it's taken a while for anyone to reply.
Not personally. Did/had some CBT a couple of years ago that helped me when I was having a quite difficult time (before I knew much about or understood my dyspraxic ways). I must confess I'm a bit of a sceptic of hypnosis though that maybe because I don't honestly fully understand it. If it works for you , that's the main thing. I've heard of NLP but again very little understanding or exposure.
Mindfulness seems to be a popular technique by all accounts. I understand it's meditation based. Has
anyone here tried it/found it helpful?

Re: does hypnosis/nlp help you?
Hello fourseventeen19,
I think the general consensus on hypnotherapy is that if you believe it will have an effect on you it will, whilst if you are sceptical it will take longer to make an impression on your mind.
Did not realise that there was an application for its use in dyspraxia, although I guess it would help with calming some of us down when we do something we didn't mean to! (this happens far to often for my liking...)
I think I may give it a try if anyone has some good recommendations?
