I think most people worry about whether they'll be a good parent - I remember being pregnant with my first and worrying whether he/she would like me and vice versa!!! I think most parents try t avoid the mistakes their own parents made, but of course still make tonnes of new ones! I am put in mind of famous Philip Larkin poem the name of which I could not write on here as the admin wouldn't like it! Sure you know the one I mean...!!

Anyhow, you should never say never...

Ah, yes. It’s a lovely old number, isn’t it?

I don’t think there’s anything profane about the title, it’s just called “This Be The Verse”, I think.

And never were truer words put into verse.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

It is a victory for stupidity, over common sense. As a reward, take a short holiday.... Did you enjoy it? Right, back to work!

One quick Googling session later.......

For those of you who haven't got a clue what we're talking about, here is an edited-for-good-taste version of the aforementioned poem....

This Be the Verse
BY PHILIP LARKIN

They **** you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were ****** up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

From Mister Larkin's lips to God's ear....
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

It is a victory for stupidity, over common sense. As a reward, take a short holiday.... Did you enjoy it? Right, back to work!

Haha thought you'd know the one I mean, and you are of course correct about the title. :)
