significantly attached to an unconfirmed dyspraxic and confirmed amazing man

Post by calisto »

I spent too long on my over-long introduction just now and it disappeared! but I guess the subject line says it all.
I found this forum looking for information on dyspraxia in adults, looking for answers about my boyfriend, and I have found so much helpful information here. I'd like to say a big general thank you, to everyone who posts and replies.
The really amazing thing about reading posts here is that the detail is very everyday - and that's where we start to notice things, but it's not what usually gets on websites with standard descriptions - so here is amazing! I'm very grateful.
I came looking for answers for my boyfriend and for me, how to smooth over some of the challenging moments. I hear a lot of "you can't change people", and I wouldn't change him for the world. But for anyone, part of a relationship has to be finding how to work together, and helping your partner where you can with what's tough for them.
I've always known that life is very tiring and sometimes stressful for him. Since reading about dyspraxia, I understand better why, and I will do whatever I can to help him find ways to get through the tougher times. He has always treated life, family and me with the same respect, he never gives in or gives up. It's very brave.
So, I promise never to treat here as a dumping ground for complaining about negative stuff. I don't consider myself as having a lot to complain about. He's amazing. And dyspraxia is fascinating, because it combines such seemingly opposite characteristics!
I still have a bunch of questions, and really appreciate any ideas you guys have and are willing to share.
