yeah a physical venue would be awkward to organise so to speak, this is why we have this forum
Re: The Key is finding a guy or gal who understands.
Thats why I would to date a fellow dyspraxic person for once so they can understand any erratic or unusual behaviour I may portray. Saves the hassle of explaining what it is. Any ladies out there lol?!?! Joke.
Re: The Key is finding a guy or gal who understands.
if only it was that simple right?
Re: The Key is finding a guy or gal who understands.
Yes as only if it were simple, then again if its all just simple and going well all of the time. Weather that's finding someone or being with someone then its probably not right in various ways - there has to be a balance of some sorts.
I am lucky and I have a girlfriend that does understands, although she is not dyspraxic she has helped me to understand a lot of things and we have helped each other through some very crazy times. It hasent been without many issues and problems on both sides and yes its not easy and there have been some grate times. I wouldn't change it at all - when you have something stick with it.

I'd certainly be up for meeting some other Dysparaxics in real life in over 30 years I've only ever met one other Dyspraxic (that I know of) and she was my dyspraxia support tutor at uni .
That's why I joined this forum to meet others like me cos I thought I was the only one.
I know it may sound like me being biased but what about somewhere in the Midlands ? Logically it is the most central point in the U.K, I think it would have to be weekend event or something otherwise it would'nt be worth it for a lot of people, I can see how the expense and traveling could put a lot of people of though.

I would be up for a whole forum (or as best we can) meet up, a weekend thing would be ideal as if people are going to travel then it makes it worth while.
I don't really have a problem of where (I will travel and make the effort), the midlands sounds like a good option as its probably the most equal travel distance for most.
The only thing about meet ups is that they often don't work as people organizing them want to have it near them and don't want to travel. I can understand this but it just means its never going to happen if no one is prepared to travel and / or wants it in there town.
There is a lot of talk on hear about meeting up hear, there etc and how we want to meet other dyspraxics in person instead of on line - so yea your right I think we need to organize a 'event' that a lot of us will be able to go to and be worth while.

I think we might need the "Jolly Dyspraxics Day Out" thread.
For those of who want to have a serious punt at doing it.

I'm happy for you that you found someone ^_^ I on the other hand not so much...........
Re: The Key is finding a guy or gal who understands.
Yeah I agree. Once when this girl I was dating and I were in a bookshop and I saw a book about dyspraxia and autism. I casually pointed out that I have dyspraxia and she went all weird for a couple of minutes like she was uncomfortable. I then got a text which was meant for her best friend saying "HELP I THINK SAM IS AUTISTIC!!!!!" Didn't take me long to realise that she wasn't for me (although two years on we're best friends... What went wrong there eh )

Hi Sam and welcome
I think I wd have wanted to have texted straight back but what I wd have said wd more than likely have come out wrong and/or been misinterpreted.
It's a difficult condition to describe but we need to be able to challenge and somehow positively influence others'perceptions.
