Re: Why is it some people just don't understand???
Thanks Alex. It is so good to speak to people who understand and have the same hassle's with others. I wouldn't have put up with it either a few years ago - but now I have a baby (a wonderful accidental present) and she adores her dad and vice versa...so not so easy to walk away as it once was...

I do the penguin too! Thanks everyone for your support. It is great that you understand so well how difficult these supposedly 'easy' things are. Being pushed into stuff really doesn't help us at all. In the end I did it my way and walked but not until we had had several more arguments about how I w...

Re: Why is it some people just don't understand???
Thanks Joy. I think that is exactly what it is! I am so frustrated with not being understood and I end up feeling like the impatient, non-understanding one! Good know I am not the only one out there

Why is it some people just don't understand???
It's snowing again here and like most people where I am, I am compelled to travel by bike to work, something that I loathe and despise doing. I am no good at it, have no spatial awareness and have several near accidents every time I go. It stresses me out and I hate it - even in good weather. The al...

Re: SENSORY SHOES
No, but would be interested to hear if they really do make a difference. My binocular vision is shot, especially when tired/stressed/unhappy (pretty much all three at the mo!!! :D) Snow and ice are particularly bad, but just got a pair of these and seriously OMG, which I'd got them years ago! Make a...

Re: Really struggeling with family
My daughter is exactly the same age! let me say that it is nothing to do with our dyspraxia...it is a normal part of being a parent! especially when they are this age. My partner spoils our daughter rotten and lets her do pretty much whatever she likes, so when she is with me and this isn't the case...

Re: advice please!
the fact that dyspraxia isn't supposed to get worse is worth bearing in mind. mine gets worse temporarily for periods of time. I too have dyslexic type probs from it (similar to the ones you describe) and there are occasions when I fear I am going to lose my ability to speak and write the English la...

Re: Talking to people in my head
Once again I'm forced to say how much I love to read what all of you are saying.
I agree with so much here - about the wanting people more in your life/processing thoughts etc. it is all so normal and so true.
If we could harness all our creativity just think what we could do!!!

Re: Feeling Constricted from Clothes or Food
I don't like round neck things - always preferred v-neck (with a scarf if freezing!). also can't stand 'heavy' things over my shoulders - what I mean by that is hoodies with really thick heavy hoods/heavy coats etc....make me stressed and panicky....

Re: Talking to people in my head
I agree! Can't believe that most people don't daydream and/or talk to themselves!
Came as a great shock to find out they don't! How the heck do they get through???
Anyway this is why I love all of you...you, unlike the rest of the bloody planet, get me!!!

Re: Talking to people in my head
It seems like we all have similar things - escaping into fantasy for one reason or another. I read some where that 80% of dyspraxics say they daydream, which is a lot higher than the percentage for the general public I guess our real difference is how much it spills into/takes over reality.

Re: Dyspraxics can be fussy eaters
my eating is odd, not so much fussy (in my opinion) but odd....for example, i like milk chocolate (cadburys in the main, currently twirls mostly) before 6pm and dark (70% cote dór) after 6. As i am constantly telling my partner, i'm not a fusser eater, i just know what i like
