Sudden/overwheming urge to sleep

Do any of you ever feel like you want, need and HAVE to go to bed, no matter what time of day it is?? :S I know this sounds bizarre but say you are in the middle of something, anything, day to day and find you have to excuse yourself from the room/person/situation and go home to bed? (if you aren't ...

Re: Dyspraxia hobbies

Mine include; Reading (true crime or romantic fiction) Creative writing, Socialising with friends over coffee, or a cider perhaps.... As for my talents? :S I adore being on stage or in front of a camera, I would even say that I thrive on it, and have been passionate about acting for many years and a...

Re: I was assessed..

Strangely, I love going new places and meeting new people :) It's probably more HOW I get to said new place, and if plans to visit 'new place' are cancelled, that's the problem for me :S lol! I think ADHD is indeed common amongst us dyspraxics, just sometimes not picked up due to other traits within...

Rubiks cubes and BBC's 'The Apprentice'

So, last night, I was watching the penultimate episode of The Apprentice on BBC1, The interview process... and something struck me; When Jason was handed a Rubiks cube to complete in under 3 minutes my initial thought was 'A Rubiks cube must be a dyspraxics worst nightmare!' Just the whole concept o...

Re: What are the symptoms of Dyspraxia?

Hiya tangled, I hope this post finds you well, and, Welcome to the forum! :D These are classic 'symptoms' if you will, and the first I came across when I Googled Dyspraxcia for the first time after a chat with my GP. Although it varies so much from one person to the next, and all that you mention wi...

Re: best beauty tips, tricks and secrets

Hi there somalyna, hope you are well, a big 'Welcome' to the forum! :D I don't wear a lot of make-up really, just mascara and eyeliner :) Never eye shadow, as I kinda end up looking like a clown! :S lol! I always tend to over do the foundation/blusher etc. too, so prefer to go without that as well! ...

Re: I was assessed..

That's perfectly understandable :) Facebook isn't everyone's cup of tea is it. I'm going to just pretend you live in America... I worked at a Girl Scout Camp in Alberquerque NM in 2005 and my dream to visit NYC before I hit 30! So yeah, let's go with that! :P lol! I often wonder if I have a touch of...

Where abouts' are you then? If you don't mind me asking  Lol... Throwing a ball against a wall and catching it?? I would be terrible at that; my hand to eye coordination and special awareness is the worst! :S I wouldn't do too good at anything short term memory related either... Reading and w...

Re: I was assessed..

I wouldn't say I was impatient to get diagnosed, but just wish it has have been picked up sooner! :@ In a weird way, I am excited about seeing a professional (I have been referred to a psychologist I believe) who can help me to understand me, and give me these much needed coping techniques etc. I am...

Routines/obsessions/phases/OCD

Is it just me, or does anyone else go through 'phases' where you get stuck on something (take food, for example) and you'll eat the same thing, literally day in day out until you are sick of it and stop all together? Then, months later, you'll 're-discover' it and repeat the cycle?? :S I know it sou...

Re: % of dyspraxics who can drive

I have severe dyspraxia and I had a years worth of lessons in a manual when I was 17 and I wasn't even close to ready for taking my test. I got so frustrated that I just stopped learning to drive. Now it's 5 years on and I am learning again but this time I'm learning in an automatic. Although it is...

Re: I was assessed..

No problem :) Do you mind if I ask how old you are, and how old you were when you were diagnosed?? Sorry, I just think that if mine was picked up at school, I could have better, proven coping strategies in place by now!! ](*,) I am 27 by the way, and have yet to be diagnosed, but went to my GP about...

Re: Lack of mental imagery

I have always felt I have a strong photographic memory, even remembering exact conversations by closing my eyes and imagining the room I was in at the time but sometimes? I go into the fridge for example, look at the cooking time on something, go to put the oven on and think; 'what did that say?' ev...
