Re: Dyspraxia in retail / a shoe shop

I think a lot of my colleagues simply 'put up with me' rather than understanding me... Its not a nice feeling being misunderstood is it? :( I was once described as a very conscientious individual, and customer service/satisfaction is of paramount importance to me... But it often doesn't come across ...

Re: WAIS psychology test vs OT assessment

I had my first session with my psychologist on Tuesday... It was fascinating!! :D I had a general knowledge test, she pointed to objects/colours around the room and asked me what they were, I was shown 50 pictures and then had to point to the right one, when shown another 2 (one I had previously see...

Re: Been referred to 5 different places now...

Finally!! After 8 months of calls chasing up referrals, waiting, being passed from one professional body/organisation/hospital to the next, someone has agreed to take on my case! :D I am going for my first appointment next Tuesday (3rd) and then, the 10th and 17th! Been referred to 5 different places now...

... I went to a follow up appointment with my GP the other week (who, I would just like to point out, is a FANTASTIC lady! :D) She asked if the reception team had filled me in on what had been going on, I said no, cos they hadn't and then she explained; She had tried referring me to an occupational ...

Ignorance/assumptions/WE ARE INDIVIDUALS

A short while ago, after a follow up appointment with my GP to discuss my referral, I printed a page from the Dyspraxic Foundation website titled: What is Dyspraxia? and I believe, the sub section was called something along the lines of 'Dyspraxia in Adults' ...Anyhow, it was only a short piece, def...

Re: Table manners / food issues

How about spreading, like, butter etc. with a knife... Anyone else have issues there too?? :S

I make such a mess out of an otherwise 'simple' task and usually end up using WAY to my spread/jam or whatever and it's a miracle if that even makes it ONTO the bread/toast!!

Re: Potato peeling

I only came across this problem a few months ago, when my boyfriend moved into his first flat on his own (I hadn't been with him very long at this point, and although he knew about my dyspraxcia, we had yet to establish ways to 'help me') He asked me to peel the potatoes while he diced the chicken (...
