It is in my opinion not always the best for service users to do 3 short visits when 1 l...

Re: Could I ever drive?

Took me years and countless lessons to learn to drive, one tip that seemed to help me with judging distance (when some of the over stuff is ałready learned) is to count how long it took to cross a road turn right etc. This some how linked the space and time element may or may not help, but it helped...

Re: Tying laces

You can also buy laces called Greepers, which unlike the curly ones look like regular laces, they have a toggle to pull them tight, if you go for them you may need help to fit them they are fiddly to set up but really easy once done, and normal looking too!

Re: Interest lost at work in general.

I often think that I would do a much better job if I had a PA, but in order to do that I would have to work through several levels were my personal organisation would be challenged without the help of a PA to keep me organised!

Re: Sensory integration conference [related to dyspraxia]

A very short answer is the organization of senses for use...... but I will write something more comprehensive as I believe that its a leading course of dyspraxia and their is evidence that SI treatment works to decrease the symptoms of dyspraxia but I will add this to my to do list!

Re: How do you feel about your diagnosis ?

I am pleased to have a diagnosis, as my own labels are far worse, the labels I gave myself were thick stupid misfit odd, so compared to those dyspraxia is infinitely better! Also as an OT I have been able to study and hope to self treat with sensory integration therapy ....I just need to find time t...

Re: My coping strategies - what are yours?

I leave things out, but I have a tidy husband who puts them away again so I end up forgetting, I use to-do lists but at work I used to loose them so its a page a day diary for my to do list, that way it does not get too over welming ;)

Re: Medication experiences

Hi Simon, is your therapist NHS? If not can I suggest an occupational therapist using sensory integration, as it sounds like your body position ( proprioception) sense and your vestibular(head position AMD balance sense) aren't working properly. You could if you can`t afford to try things like sitti...

Re: Recently discovered I have dyspraxia, help?

You may want to take a look at the sensory integration network, I would advocate Sensory integration therapy if you can afford it and find a suitably qualified and experienced therapist... if not ironically movement activities like horse riding ( you may be able to sneak in with riding for disabled)...
