Re: Connecting

Oh yeah, all the time. I haven't any real close friends because I find it difficult to communicate with people generally. I find a lot of people complain, often about other people and I can't feign interest in what are usually self-made or unimportant problems. It's quite hard to describe isn't it?...

Re: Paranoia

Sadly there are a some people who are like this and we either have to find a way to work around or limit or best of all avoid them altogether. Where their 'toxic' attitude causes us to enter a highly emotional state it might be better to walk away or find allies unless we feel able to assert oursel...

Re: Paranoia

I know it sounds like a cliche but a great many people struggle with this fear and are often preoccupied with what others' opinion of them might be, rather than thinking of forming an opinion about you. Of course for those of us with Dyspraxia, we're already hyper conscious of our awkwardness and e...

Paranoia

Yet another question, I seem to have this habit of getting rather paranoid, particularly as to what other people think of me, I sense that I'm being judged by others, and they may well be doing so, and then my mind arrives at all sorts of conclusions as to what people are actually thinking. This cau...

Connecting

One of the things I noticed in my life is that I really struggle to get to know people, lacking the confidence to break the ice, I feel that I seldom actually connect with people and get past the pleasantries. This doesn't particularly bother me though as I feel more comfortable around fewer people,...

Re: ADHD

I think if you go along and tell your GP, I have ADHD I read it online, now give me a prescription for Ritalin, he or she might not be very happy. However, if you go along having printed and completed the questionnaire and can offer examples of how it's affecting your ability to carry out normal da...

ADHD

Now I'm not normally one for making a self diagnosis based on what I've read on the internet, but I've recently been doing a little research into ADHD, and took an online test from what appeared to be an official charity for ADHD. Based on my answers to the questions, which I based on my self knowle...

Re: Accepting being Dyspraxic

After many years of being called a retarded for my different behavioral and thought patterns and never understanding why I didn't fit in, and beating myself up for being myself, I actually made the effort to research the learning disability I always knew I had. It explained everything to me that I h...

Re: Feeling dumb

But we do have the tempting option of allowing them to become lulled into a false sense of security until we disabuse them of the notion and make them look/feel dumb 8-) That is very true! We only need it to be the right time and place, then they can see our true colour. The thing is whether I coul...

Re: Frustrating

This has definitely been covered before and regrettably low self esteem does all too often come as part of the package. You're far from alone in this. It helps to know that I'm not the only one, it helps me put it more into perspective, and get advice from others as to how to deal with it/adapt to ...

Likewise, although I do worry occasionally that the way some people may see me could hold me back from achieving my potential, by the opportunity not being given to me etc.

Re: Annoyed by dyspraxia

Thank you. It does. I accept WHOLLY my son's Aspergers. Always have. Never wanted to change a thing. It's a gift. But this just feels like the final nail in the coffin as I've had diagnosis all my life and this one was MY idea!!! Tell me some strengths please.... Well there's long term memory for s...

Re: Annoyed by dyspraxia

Now days I actually understand how it affects my life, alot more things I do make sense to me, which is helpful because it helps me accept myself more. But there definitely is a tendency to spend too much time analysing my actions instead of focusing on the present moment and getting on with life, w...

Feeling dumb

I can't always tell if it's plain and simple paranoia or if it actually means something, but I get the feeling that people around me see me as a really dumb person, and sometimes I get the feeling I can be a bit useless. This causes me frustration, because I find that most of the time people don't s...
