Re: Vestibular System

Hi Jenny, I've been meaning to write a post on this topic for a while. Your post has prompted me to do this. I have been using a system called Original Strength for about three months. This system is based on a theory that by doing infant movements such as rocking, rolling and crawling, an adult can...

Re: Finding a hobby(for dyspraxics!!!)

I rather like this thread because it's brought together a good range of interests. The main things that I look forward to at the weekend are sailing and kayaking. I also enjoy hiking.

Welcome. I hope that this site helps you come to terms with everything. I should also point out that Dyspraxia is also known as Developmental Coordination Disorder in some countries. It is also considered to be part of the Autistic Spectrum Disorder by some experts.

Re: Finding a hobby(for dyspraxics!!!)

I wasn't particularly enamoured with Mary Colley's book since generally I don't like to be constrained by other peoples notions of what I can or cannot do. I hope she'd be impressed that Dyspaxic people aren't necessarily accepting her work as definitive in terms of what they are prepared to consid...

Re: Defining oneself as dyspraxic - or not?

I’m interested in the fact that some on this forum choose to define themselves (inwardly or to others) as dyspraxics whilst others do not. This of course is a matter of personal choice, but I would be pleased to learn peoples’ reasoning for plumping for one or the other option, and also what you co...

Re: Could I have Dyspraxia?

Hello! I was wondering if I could reach out and ask for some opinions for people who...sort of understand. I was considering going for a rest for dyspraxia, but I was...worried about wasting the GP's time. A little bit of background - I'm a 20 year old female from the UK, suffering from two anxiety...

Re: Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

Definitely along the introverted side of the spectrum. I don't know if that is my innate nature or whether it is a default response to my less than stellar popularity as a child and young adult.

Re: Dyspraxia or under confidence?

Im' not at all surprised a lot of us have problems with low self-esteem - it does undermine your confidence and other people can get impatient, even if they don't mean to. Dyspraxia can be a bit of a strange old thing - even for us who have it, it can be difficult to explain. I think a lot of probl...

Re: Any advice for judging road position/kerb distance?

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for judging where you are on the road or your distance from the kerb? I failed my test today and one of many issues I have is my judgement of road position. I feel like i'm steering in a perfectly straight line and am giving plenty of room to cars but i'm clearly...

Re: Teachers

I can give you the perspective of someone who was in secondary school in the late 70s and early 80s, as yet undiagnosed with dyspraxia. I was in a relatively genteel school compared, so I probably had a much better experience than most people at that time. Most of the teachers at that school genuine...

Re: How did you find out about the Dyspraxic Adults Forum?

Just stumbled upon it through google. I got diagnosed with dyspraxia when I was 17 (nearly 12 years ago... #-o ) I'd definitely categorize my issues as mild, so I occasionally forget until something comes and (sometimes literally) hits me in the face to remind me - this time it's my alignment getti...
