Re: Empathy & Reading Faces

Hi,

It's something I'm curious about, there are overlapping traits with ASD and dyspraxia but I would be interested to find out if there is more to it. I've been in touch with an Autism organisation in Scotland to get more information.

Touch Typing

Hi I was recommended to learn how to touch type, so I downloaded some software which is good, aimed at kids but I quite enjoy the format. However I find it almost overwhelmingly stressful to do it, if I can't see my fingers I have no idea where they are on the board, it's almost as if they are disco...

Re: Feeling Down

Thank you for for your replies, getting a diagnosis has been much harder than I anticipated. As they say knowledge is power, and there is support out there.

Feeling Down

Hi Having a bit of a wobble, I got my formal diagnosis today, should get the full report in a few days. I'd been given a strong indication that I was dyspraxic by my OT with the forms I filled in a few months ago but Lockdown meant I've had to wait to be seen. I've been recommended to see a behaviou...

Empathy & Reading Faces

Hi I have read that Dyspraxics can be highly empathetic, this is true for me, so much so my career has been in mental health as a counsellor. I have wondered that in a one to one situation with no distractions it might be easier but though I seem to pick up on people's emotions very easily I can oft...

Re: Motivation, obsession, distraction

Thanks for your reply, I certainly identify with my brain just not taking stuff in and getting distracted by other things. Thank you for the advice too, learning to pace myself is quite a challenge! I got diagnosed with OCD a couple of years back, my kind is ruminating thoughts, it can be hard to di...

Motivation, obsession, distraction

Hi I'm still new to dyspraxia and keep was wondering if people have similar issues to me or not, what is the dyspraxic stuff and what isn't. I struggle with getting motivated, perhaps it's to do with the extra effort it can take to do certain things, working out how I start a task can be hard. I str...

Learning Stuff

I was recently diagnosed and this has made me reassess my past in this light of this. I have lots of questions and this is one. I have spent my life learning new things and only able to get so far and no further, even though I know I have the intelligence to learn stuff. Why? I feel very frustrated,...

Re: Diagnosed Today

Hi, I received my diagnosis through Dyspraxia UK who linked me up with an OT. Due to the coronavirus situation I haven't met her yet but I did all the forms and we had a lengthy chat on the phone. I had expected a result that was inconclusive because there are a lot of things I can do but she said m...

Diagnosed Today

Hi

Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm 51 and got my diagnosis today. I wasn't sure if I had it, but there were lots of signs that made me suspect it, it feels quite daunting.
