Re: Is Anyone Sensitive To Noise or Odors?
How on earth I’ve ended up working in a busy office environment on the phones.. ? It’s almost beyond me 🤣 So relateable! I worked in call centres for years and certain pitched voices or sounds on the phone just set my teeth on edge...especially if people are breathing too deeply or rustling paper.

Re: Newbie here
Well I saw the OT yesterday and mentioned that I thought I might have dyspraxia, but she didn't seem to make much of it. She was very nice and acknowledged that I clearly have high levels of anxiety, but she asked me if it would make any difference if I got a diagnosis of dyspraxia. I guess she's ri...

Re: Hello - I'm new here
Hi I'm Helen & I'm new here too. I haven't had a diagnosis yet, but I believe I have a lot of typical traits of dyspraxia. I was just curious as to how you got a diagnosis? I don't think my GP would take me seriously if I ask him about it.

Re: Burnout
I experienced something like this a few weeks ago at work. I was putting too much pressure on myself and trying to do too much, comparing my ability to learn to everyone else's and so of course I was making silly mistakes. Then in my head the mistakes escalated into something that would potentially ...

Re: The Underground
I went on the Underground for the first time this year and it wasn't as bad as I thought. I also have a fear of escalators, but I downloaded a brilliant app called Station Master and it tells you all the facilities that each Underground station has (stairs, lifts, etc). Most Underground stations are...

Re: Clothing that you hate
I don't like anything tight around my neck, and I detest wearing tights as I struggle to get them on and they are the most uncomfortable things ever. Therefore I don't wear dresses or skirts very often. Whoever invented the bra was crazy - trying to do up those little hooks is bad enough but when th...

Public transport
Just wondering does anyone have any problems with public transport? I am getting better at it, but I find it quite stressful sometimes, and have to plan it right down to the last detail. I then go over and over it to make sure I'm 100% certain I know what to do. I always have to go in the quiet carr...

Re: Answering the phone?
Yes! I hate answering the phone unless I'm absolutely sure I know who it is. I worked in call centres for 16 years and mostly hated it because I didn't like answering the phone - bit of a drawback, but it was so hard to find a simple office job. People see your CV and think it's all you can do. I'm ...

Re: Headaches or Migraines
Yes I have had migraines since I can remember. They are absolutely awful and I hate them. The pain is so bad and the only thing that helps is sleep. I have taken medication before but it doesn't really work for me. I don't know what causes mine, as they happen so randomly but I did go through a phas...

Re: Dyspraxia Learing to drive
I'm not officially diagnosed as dyspraxic but can relate to a lot of things on this forum. I learnt to drive in the UK when I was 19, and really struggled with remembering my left and right, which caused so many problems. I'd get really stressed and upset and I even had to abandon a couple of lesson...

Re: Is Anyone Sensitive To Noise or Odors?
Can´t stand loud noises or perfume. Noise-canceling headphones are a godsend for me. I'm exactly the same! I hate perfume as it always goes straight to my sinuses and gives me a sort of 'pinching' feeling at the top of my nose. I work in quite a loud office and there's a lady who's really nice but ...

Re: Obsessions
Finally, there seems to be a reason why I have always been obsessive. I'm not officially diagnosed as dyspraxic but it's something I've been wondering abour recently. When I was 12 I really first noticed my 'obsessive' personality. I was obsessed with Boy George so much that me and my mum almost fel...

Re: Newbie here
Thanks for your reply. It's taking me a while to get my head around the fact that I could have dyspraxia and the more research I do, the more likely it seems. I'm seeing an Occupational Health Therapist on Wednesday and am wondering if it would be a good idea to ask for more information?

Newbie here
Hi, I'm new here and looking for some advice. I'm 49 and have always felt 'different', thinking that it could be a mild form of autism, but then my mum mentioned dyspraxia the other day and ever since then I've been keen to find out if this is the case. I've always had difficulty with co-ordination ...
