Re: What are your dyspraxia symptoms

Sorry you did not get a response. I plan to give one in due course. For me the classic childhood symptoms included: unable to tie shoestrings (until the very last day of Kindergarten. Since then it's been a struggle. I miss velcro) could not ride a bike until age 10. I was the worst player on the wo...

Re: What are your dyspraxia symptoms

I now realise my main symptoms derive from my brain generating more thoughts than I can organise, clumsiness and poor spatial awareness and an inability to regulate my behaviour in socially constructive ways (speak to loud/soft and interrupt others).

Re: Looking for experts by experience to support in conference presentation

I have no problem with the term "personal experience" but seriously dislike folk terming themselves expert as expertise is unlikely regarding developmental dyspraxia due to the fact it seems to be experienced differently by us all - Having previously worked in employment that involved a lo...

Re: Hello!

Welcome, I have found this sort of Forum better than some of the more commercial one's.

I discovered I am dyspraxic about 25 years ago, and am still learning

Re: Looking for experts by experience to support in conference presentation

Anyone who claims expertise is unlikely to be an expert - sorry I cannot actively help maybe have a go at the questionnaire and contact those writers following the dyspraxia foundation's closure. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSelH6kRyMSloneWXDPa-JK20yMv30yTcikbRfWcVZ5L9wddkg/viewform?pli=...

Re: New house problems

I have had to learn to accept the consequences of dyspraxia and am fortunate that my wife of 54 years is tolerant and supportive but still cannot understand what it feels like to be dyspraxic any more than I can understand what it feels like not to be dyspraxic

Re: Dyspraxia and rollerblading

Years ago - before she discovered dyspraxia my daughter discovered roller skating and I think got pleasure and a sense of achievement from being part of a club and it helped her spatial awareness as well.

Re: Help me learn how to remember

For me - I try to give myself physical prompts that cause me to check what I have or may forget.

I get my wife (I am lucky) to keep a diary of my medical appointments - things I need to take with me I place where I will trip over them and so on.

Re: Link between dyspraxia and addiction

I am dyspraxic and an addict and have made quite a study from a personal point of view. It seems to me that succumbing to any addiction changes how I feel and for a brief time I lose my sense of failure which I am so aware of when I consider how behave with dyspraxia. I suspect that addiction brings...

Re: Does the condition worsen with age?

I am 75 -the point about ageing is that I am just as dyspraxic now as when I was 7 years old - I am not aware of any research that is helpful - the best we can do is support each other it has always seemed to me. Sorry for my abruptness - I am very tired with a lot of stresses at present. please con...
