Re: Dyspraxia and rollerblading

Years ago - before she discovered dyspraxia my daughter discovered roller skating and I think got pleasure and a sense of achievement from being part of a club and it helped her spatial awareness as well.

Re: Help me learn how to remember

For me - I try to give myself physical prompts that cause me to check what I have or may forget.

I get my wife (I am lucky) to keep a diary of my medical appointments - things I need to take with me I place where I will trip over them and so on.

Re: Link between dyspraxia and addiction

I am dyspraxic and an addict and have made quite a study from a personal point of view. It seems to me that succumbing to any addiction changes how I feel and for a brief time I lose my sense of failure which I am so aware of when I consider how behave with dyspraxia. I suspect that addiction brings...

Re: Does the condition worsen with age?

I am 75 -the point about ageing is that I am just as dyspraxic now as when I was 7 years old - I am not aware of any research that is helpful - the best we can do is support each other it has always seemed to me. Sorry for my abruptness - I am very tired with a lot of stresses at present. please con...

Re: Crawling

This is all very new to me so apologies if this question has been asked before or if it's a fact well known by everybody! Following something I recently read, I'm just wondering if anyone else was told that they didn't crawl as a baby. I was and now I think I know why 👶🤔 I have heard reports of chi...

Re: Dyspraxic Adults to organise together

I blame myself for not paying proper attention and attending annual general meetings since two bad experiences attending several years ago, when I concluded my sort of interest was not welcome. I assumed those elected as trustees at least had the skills to keep a functioning organisation even at a m...

Re: Hi everyone

Yes it was the same for me, I still remember my powerful sense of relief when I left my assessors office in 2002.

It still drives me to try to better understand myself and support others by sharing my experiences.

Re: Hi everyone

Hi everyone, I recently read an article about dyspraxia and realized that it was talking about me! I found out that there was a name for some of the difficulties I have had since childhood. I learned that I was not just an awkward clumsy person and that other people had these same problems. I am lo...

Re: Dyspraxic Adults to organise together

The big issue is decision making - informality can work well but eventually a structure is needed. The key to an organisation is that no individual is more significant than any other and especially the views of those who are at variance with the majority need to be considered and not disregarded. No...

Re: Is it worth getting a diagnosis?

Hi, Im pretty certain I have dyspraxia but as I am 35 and gine this long without support is it worth chasing a diagnosis? What support or help is available once a diagnosis is given? I own a business so self employed and so dont require any accomodations at work, I am studying a degree so perhaps s...
