Those do sound very much like dyspraxic traits.
Try not to feel too embarrassed by it though, it’s not as though you asked to have these difficulties. Just view it as though you’re approaching life from a slightly different direction.

Re: Driving (improving turning)
I think part of this could be down to spatial awareness and us dyspraxics can be a little challenged in this area. Personally, I find the architecture of the car can make a big difference because they all have differing visibility. For example, when I leant and passed my test a little over 20 years ...

Re: Positive Trait of Dyspraxia
I can’t find anything publicly documented that Rowan Atkinson has Dyspraxia or any other learning difficulty (unless he’s kept it private). But it is known that he had a speech impediment… especially on the letter B which resulted in the rather marvellous way he said ‘Bob’ in Blackadder.

Re: Dyspraxia
Hi Chloe. I don’t think you’re alone in the things you describe. I think sometimes as adults we’re both consciously and unconsciously masking our symptoms or difficulties. Looking back on my adolescence, I think I was trying very hard to fit in… and not succeeding. As a result I was not very happy, ...

Re: New to the forum!
Hi Gwen, Welcome to the forum. They made me use those ridiculous rubber grips designed to correct your grip on a pen / pencil when I was very little to. I found them very painful to use and reverted to my ‘wrong’ grip as soon as I was out of nursery/lower school. Sure, my handwriting is pretty crap ...

Re: Learning to drive on and off for five years now
I wouldn’t worry too much about the focussing on the automatic. The way technology and cars are going then the manual transmission will eventually be a thing of the past.
Re: Driving
I passed both theory and practical first time. I did spend longer than the average joe in lessons though. But that may have been more down to my instructor trying to squeeze more money from me #-o It’s all down to the individual really. We all learn at different rates and found my dyspraxia didn’t a...

Re: Touch Typing
Get yourself a full size keyboard to plug into the laptop. A laptops internal keyboard is very difficult to touch type with because it’s narrower and more compressed. After that... it’s largely placing your hands in the idea place for your fingers to reach the most common keys and practicing to deve...

Re: Feeling Down
At least you have a reason for your difficulties now. It doesn’t ultimately change anything but it can help you understand your difficulties better and you may find that your coping mechanisms develop a bit more organically around them. Like what has been said, knowledge is power.

Re: Driving
Being dyspraxic shouldn’t prevent you from learning to drive if you want to. Yes, it may pose some difficulties, hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness etc but remember that driving is as much to do with attitude as it is basic ability. There are plenty of bad drivers out there who will have nor o...

Re: Wrapping Presents
Luckily for me, my fiancée is nuts about wrapping so I basically let her do it all... which is bad for everyone else as she has a habbit of making it nigh on impossible to unwrap
I don’t mind wrapping.. I start out neat enough but get sloppier with each gift.

Re: Does Anyone have Kids or want Kids
Also, it has been argued before that ASD may have been useful for evolution due to discoveries being made by high functioning autistic people. Indeed, it is suspected that some of history’s most revered geniuses, Einstein, Da Vinci etc would have been somewhere on the neuro diversity spectrum. I im...
