treadmill
I'm trying to get fit and have joined a gym. I've found that when I'm on the treadmill I have to concentrate on the display on the front of the machine or I lose my balance. If I use the towel or take a drink I have to hang on to the bars or I would fall If my trainer speaks to me I have to hold on ...
Typing
I type a lot at work and have an ergonomic keyboard (this was the result of an occupational health recommendation) The keyboard is split down the middle and both sides are at 45 degree angles The problem is that I am such a heavy handed typist that I wear the keys away, particularly on the left hand...

Ageing
I notice that I am falling over (and hurting myself) a lot recently. I'm not even aware that I'm falling so I don't put a hand to save myself...One minute I'm upright then I'm on the floor. It's like a tree falling. I don't remember being this bad when I was younger (I'm now 50) Is this an ageing th...

Re: dyslexic gift NOT a curse
There was an article in the Guardian a couple of Saturdays ago about a new book which described dyslexia as a gift as it encourages people to try harder and achieve more. Can't remember the name of the book mentioned but it was about famous dyslexics. It suggested that we should see dyslexia and othe...

Re: The mental torture of having nothing to do
I panic when I have nothing to do, especially if I have nothing to read. Someone once asked me if I could ever sit and do nothing, perish the thought!

Re: Essay Writing
Thanks for all the replies and good wishes. I really like the idea of writing in sections. My final essay this year is about me, so I've done an essay plan and am writing it in sections, over time. No point n putting myself under pressure by leaving it until the last minute. I keep meaning to have a...

Re: Empathy and empathetic
I can definitely pick up on the atmosphere in a room. I like to think I am empathetic, but as I'm training to be a counsellor I really need to be!

Tickling
I hate being tickled, I find it unpleasant and it makes me react in an almost violent way. Does anyone else hate it?

Re: what can I do to protect myself?
Please visit a citizens advice bureau or a lawyer. If you could take a bank statement to show when you took the money out of your account it might help.

Essay Writing
I have just started a 3 year part time course, but I'm struggling with the essays. I've been told that they are incoherent and rambling and not logically written. Of course to me it made perfect sense. I spoke to a tutor and we're going to discuss it when we next meet, but it's so frustrating! I can...

Re: Less than minimum wage
It is against the law to work for less than minimum wage. The National Minimum Wage council can take the company to an employment tribunal on your behalf. It is also illegal to not issue a wage slip or pay national insurance and could lead to problems with benefits as some require an NI contribution...

Re: Hearing everything all at once?
I hate it if too many conversations are going on at once and if someone is talking to me during this I struggle to hear the. If I am in a noisy room and no one is particularly talking to me I tend to zone out. At work today a printer was working next to me and there was a conversation going on in fr...
