Just back from my office Christmas party in Chester! I enjoyed it and got mildly drunk. The only problem was as I'm naturally clumsy anyway, I couldn't help but notice people were assuming I was drunker than I actually was! I've noticed this before.

Ha! No - Hal's just a shortened version of my surname! I won't be singing 'Daisy, Daisy...' anytime soon!

Favourite films?

What films does everyone like?
My favourites are Goodfellas, Dangerous Liasons, The Godfather and City of God. For light relief, I'd probably watch Zoolander, (or on TV) Alan Partriidge, Peep Show or The Simpsons.

Peterborough

Have actually lived in Peterborough most of my adult life! I only moved away in June of last year and my family still live there (am back for Xmas).
You?

Magazine reviewer

I review DVDs for a magazine. It actually suits me pretty well as it doesn't require too much mobility (although I don't work from home - I go in on a bus). The hardest things about the job are: typing (I suspect Dysparxia affects this), certain aspects related to conducting interviews allthough I ...

Benefits?

This is probably a more complex question than I'm giving it credit for, but what sort of benefits could I potentially be entitled to?
I have been diagnosed and am awaiting referral to a neurologist and probable occupational therapy. I am still able to work at the moment (as a reviewer for a magazine).

Would tea make it worse?

I drink lots of tea - usually about 5 cups a day. Is there any danger the caffeine is exacerbating my symptoms?

Top things I struggle with.

Any more for any more?
Getting in (and especially) out of cars.
Carrying drinks (especially up and down stairs).
Walking through crowded rooms.
Changing light bulbs.
Opening wine bottles.
Probably more I've forgotten.

Interruptions!

I often find it hard to judge when people are going to speak during conversational situations. I thus often find myself cutting off people before they've finished or starting at the same time as someone else. I am a timid soul though and usually back down.
Does anyone else get this?

Yes! Seems to have got worse over the last couple of years! Interesting to think there may be a Dyspraxia connection. I am increasing astounded by how many thinggs which bother me turn out to be connected to Dyspraxia in some way.

Word does not recognise 'Dyspraxia'

Has anyone else noticed Word doesn't even recognise 'Dyspraxia' as a word? It always corrects it to 'Dyspahsia' (a problem with speech). Surely it's time they woke up to this?

Shakiness?

Does anyone else get shaky, particularly in nervous situations? I'm not sure if it's a Dyspraxic thing or not!
Am seeing a neurologist soon anyway but am interested to find out if anyone else gets this.

Absolutely. I'm often pretty sharp but in some conversational situations my brain seems to completely seize up. Although I have my moments of intense chattiness, I'm often quite flustered in social situations. I actually seem to be much better when talking to one person rather than to several at ...
