Dyspraxia Suport groups in the Midlands/North of England.

Post by Lithium_joe »

Neither DANDA nor Dyspraxia Foundation, dissapointingly seem to have groups near to me in either Derbyshire OR Yorkshire, Manchester had 1 and there's a load down in the south, but I was dissapointed to find none close to me.

The post about meeting in London Oxford Circus just reminded me of it.

So IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE!!??!!??!! OUT THERE? Out There? out there? o u t t h e r e? o u t t h e r e ?

It could always be worse... Im stuck in Swindon (the town/borough) there is near enough ZERO support groups for anything at all here...

There is one near me for Aspergers which I don't have. I thought the group might me worth a try so I went a long for a year. Unfortunately this was unhelpful and made me very depressed.
So groups are not always the answer, it depens who ends up in them and what you have in common. I'd like to try a dyspraxia group but there's not one near me. Usually I funtion best 1-1 or with very few people.

Hi Pussinboots here

I've only just seen this particular post. I have also wondered about a group in my area. I live in Cressbrook now in Derbyshire which is just under 4 miles from Bakewell so not that far as the crow flies from Chesterfield or Sheffield. (I used to live in Sheffield) However, my transport problems, well documented on here, don't help much. I passed my driving test in an automatic in March this year (2008) but have had two crashes (not serious, no one hurt so don't panic)) in about 6 weeks so my confidence in driving alone is zero. (I'm just a jelly behind the wheel at the mo'). As well as my bank balance being in dire straights as the excess on my insurance is a whopping £500!!!!!!! I too would like to know about groups in East Mids though so if any have been discovered since your post Lithium Joe I'd be grateful to be informed. Also meeting up with similar souls would be good, though I reckon you and Pooky are bags younger than me, as are most folk these days tee he he :D . I don't look like a pensioner quite yet though

Hi William

Welcome to the Forum. :D
Been trying to reply but had a bit of trouble as I'd forgotten my password. I'm having a very dyspraxic week. I was trying to show a decorator to the right building to paint his door and I got both of us well and truly lost as I couldn't remember where the building was. (Well there are a few knocking around and I'd forgotten to take a trail of breadcrumbs to find my way back)!!!! ](*,)

Anyway, as I said to Lithium Joe and he to Pooky that I'm up for meeting up. (If I can find you all

Thursday's are good for me at the moment or sometime at the week-end maybe.
