Hiya, new member here. I suppose i should write a bit about myself. I'm 21, male and dyspraxic (duh). My symptoms are weak on the physical side of things, my co-ordination isn't so bad that I'm always walking into things etc but I do drop things more often than usual, I have been known to walk into things and I can't dance. I'm having a lot of trouble recently with the amount of organisation required to live independently. I'm having relationship problems due to the lack of organisation, trouble interpreting social cues, and general fustration with life.
Just wondering if any helpful people could give me some pointers to getting stuff organised and done. I've tried a few methods but none really worked for me :(

I'm getting really fustrated with the problems I face, which as I'm sure you know, can lead to outbursts.

On the bright side, I've never met another dyspraxic so it's nice to see that i'm not the only one who puts the milk in the cupboard, and the coffee in the fridge. Or who can't stand up on a bed. Or needs a blood transfusion after shaving. Been reading through the posts on here and I'm feeling a bit better about it.

Thanks for listening and hopefully I'll be around, does everyone ever meet up?

I still live with my parents and I'm 24. I don't do much cooking for myself. I could probably help out with it more often than I do. I must do this so I can get better at it. But I know my parents will do it so I often take the easy option.
I can iron simple things like t-shitrs andd find other items of clothes more difficult.
You didn't say exactly what aspects you were having difficultly with or if you are living independanltly.
As for tips for getting organised, then write lists and if there are lots of steps to a task write them down. Again this is something I don't always do as often as I should. I guss it is easier to give advice than take it.

Thanks for all your replies, I couldn't move back home, I like my independence too much, not having my parents questioning my comings and goings etc.
The physical side of things, eg cooking, cleaning etc isn't a problem (much), as I can handle that, I cut myself shaving and drop things fairly often though. I couldn't live without my metal coffee mug, I've dropped it so many times. The main thing I have problems with is organisation, paying bills on time, doing my washing when i'm runnning low on clothes to wear, going shopping for more food etc. And when I do these things, I think they're harder for me to do than other people. Also stuff like I really need a new job, but actually getting organised and writing a CV and posting it to companies and organising interviews just seems terrifying. Sometimes it's all a bit much.

I feel like if I actualy got into the habit of doing these things, really pushing myself for it, then I could probably do it. But that just doesn't seem appealing :(

Hi and Welcom, I'm pussinboots. I drop things too. Also I walk into things, fall down sometimes and I've crashed my car twice in six weeks. Fortunately only the metal cars were hurt! Bit scared to get back in it though. Think it's great that you're managing independently, I share your woes with cooking. (Don't cut myself shaving though :D :D :D 'cos I'm female tee he he.)

You'll love the forum. Great to know there are others in the same boat. I find that very comforting and I guess you will too.

Bye for now
