NHS WEBSITE

Post by PatsyIpswich »

I am 83 years old and full time wheelchair user. My diagnosis is idiopathic cerebella ataxia.
However when I read of a celebrity with dyspraxia. I looked on NHS website for symptoms and found they are same as mine. This lead me to your forum. I couldnt figure out how to write a post on introduction page.
I have emailed my neurologist to ask for his comments. I was born prematurely in 1942 so probably not able to access records from before NHS.
I hope this is ok. I look forward to reading 100s of posts :D

Hi Patsy

'Idiopathic cerebellar ataxia' and Dyspraxia are not the same condition.

By all means look at posts on the forum in case they are helpful. Because Dyspraxia is rooted in neurology there will be similarity and common traits (symptoms) between Dyspraxia and other neurological conditions.

Your Neurologist shouldl explain but typically Dyspraxia is a developmental condition. Sometimes people who develop disability due to traumatic injury, a bleed on the brain or illness are described as having acquired dyspraxia but this diagnosis is contested by some.
