Hi everyone, I'm a bit confused.
Got my dyspraxia diagnosis yesterday. At the assessment I was told to do nothing for a month. But at the same time there are recommendations and reading lists? So I'm not sure. It's a bit conflicting really. The reason why I got the diagnosis is because the dyspraxia is affecting my quality of life in a big way right now. I'm not one for sitting and doing nothing, and would like to change things for the better, because that's what it's all about, right?
Should I at least start with the reading list?
I'm Dyspraxic, now what?

Hi Humpty and welcome to your Tribe
I'm not the sort to sit and do nothing even if its frantic overthinking with not a lot of material gain
There's a Resources list on the Forum

I suppose they could have been clearer in perhaps saying give yourself time to process the emotions this revelation will bring. It definitely took me time to process what it all meant when I pitched up here in May 2011 with very similar questions.
Hope this helps feel free to reply here if you have further questions or need to vent
(always good tip to select all and copy before you hit submit or compose ypur post in a doc or email Then if the Forum has timed you out you can paste what you had typed back in.)

Re: I'm Dyspraxic, now what?
Thanks Tom. I don't think I have any emotions towards it all really. It isnt a big revelation to me, and it's an explanation to how my life has been, and why I've been struggling now. They say you go through the 5 stages of grief. But I had already thought about the "what if I was diagnosed 30 years ago" thing prior to receiving diagnosis. And my answer was that it wouldn't have helped me much back then, plus you can't change the past.
I have nobody to be angry at. I have no need to cry about it, as I've nothing to be sad about. I would much rather put my energy to good use.

You're v welcome.
I believe that's the best way to be. Had you known 30 years ago, there was not the recognition or acceptance, it's much better now, even if it is far from perfect in some quarters.

If you’re itching to do something, starting with the reading list could be a great way to stay engaged without jumping into too much action. It might give you some insights and strategies that could be helpful later on.
