I'm Jojo, I'm 53 and was diagnosed with dyspraxia at 28. I've only just started to really look at how to adapt things for dyspraxia as opposed to writing myself off as useless and clumsy. I'm on a mission to get fit and discovered tonight I don't know how to run

Hi Jojo
Welcome and apologies for slow response.
I was mid 30s when I was confronted with fact. There was v little info about what next but finding this forum helped back then. I often wonder if they had explained it to me at school but not sure how I would have reacted to news.

Re: Introduction Studying Issues Adam H
My son Adam and myself have been relying on CAMHS since COVID to help Adam with ASD issues for around 4 years now and is about to turn 18 when his health care returns to care from his GP instead of CAMHS. CAMHS concentrated on counselling for safe guarding issues but unfortunateky no CBT or Therapy was prescribed remaining on the ADA wait list but nothing to help him only medication. After returning to school last Sept for 6th Form issues came to light and experianced Dyspraxic issues during assements in Nov24 . I believe he now has to have help ASAP after his wait for treatment has been ruining his education progress. His GP asked me to inform the school to assess him for Dyslexia/Dyspraxic in hope they can help Can anyone help guide me and my son please as I feel he has been let down by the system and I am unsure what assistance the school will give.

Re: Introduction
Hi Sorry to hear your son Adam has not been received the support he needs and is entitled to.
His school/college unfortunateĺy may try to push you back towards GP so you'll likely have to be ceaselessly polite but persistent. The college should have the Educational Psychologist contacts for someone who can assess him.
Your NHS Trust should have a Patient and Liaison Services (PALS) team or similar. They should be able to advise better than I can. (a formal complaint may be appropriate)
This should ideally have been bettter posted as a new post but please don't worry. I hope Adam gets the support he needs to progress.
