Dyspraxic Adults

We had an electrician coming round this morning to fix the light in our bathroom, and before he arrived, I had a phonecall:

"Ive got a bit lost - I'm by the museum, how do I find your house?"

The museum only takes me 7 minutes tops to walk there, so he was nearby. I've walked up there several times, and it's straightforward, but I couldn't manage to give directions, I got as far as "carry on past the pub" and then got completely stuck, before handing the phone over to my Much Beloved, who managed it much better than me!

I can direct people if they're in front of me, by flailing my arms around, but even then I can only do walking routes - not being able to drive, the concept of road directions just doesn't occur to me - I'm sure I must have sent some people the wrong way up a road on occasion!

Anyone else absolutely hopeless when it comes to directions?

I have the same problem... absolutely hopeless giving directions and even worse when trying to remember them when being given them...

I also have that problem. My local shop is at the bottom of the road, George Street, and I live opposite Ford, I find it impossible to direct people that far down! Oops, Put the streets in the wrong places again!

That's me to a T , but if I am able to look at a map I am fine.

I'm also quite good with a map and with North, South, East and West, but when comes stuff being on the right or left side I tend to get quite flustered.

I've absolutely no sense of direction whatsoever, even if I've been to a place numerous times, I can still manage to get lost.

I dread it when people call my work and ask for directions, I don't drive and I'd have great difficulty in directing them from the gate to my front door let alone from another part of the city or even further afield.

My colleagues laugh at me when I have to pass the customer onto one of them for directions, it really annoys me, It isn't my fault that I have no sense of direction and they know I'm awaiting a diagnosis of possible dyspraxia


I need to work on my sense of humour I guess.
