Mini Apocalypse today

Post by Carpe Veritas »

One of my strategies for dealing with dyspraxia was to store events/adresses/phonetrees in my nice little nokia phone.

It gave me reminders, remembered peoples birthdays, gave me a line to my old Uni friends that keep changing adresses (my only way to contact them). Gave me a large store of photos to help me remember good things that have happened.

And my Fiance put it in the washing machine this morning (along with my wallet).... #-o

If the data was saved to your SIM card and not your phone, can you not salvage the SIM card?

(But ouch...)

I think most data if not all is saved on the phone with the nokia's. hope to be wrong though!

I would suggest a backup plan, like having a spare phone or a note pad or something.

like I have lost loads of data over the years, through either not finding the files on pc before formatting due to a crash, or my father wiping the pc's just for something to do!!

like my pc life started in about '89, and I written loads to a girl in london, but lost all the letters apart from a few I still had as backup on disk, even letters meaning to send but never getting around to sending :*(

I still need to work my way through copies of copies of letters! but the programs I was using don't work with win 98, or xp!! so I am having to use word to recover the files, and delete all the garbage chars at the start, and end of the files :*(

Hi

If memory serves if you take the battery out quick enough after the phone is wet.... you can then get the boards sonically dried and some times the phone can be salvaged... but yoiu have to find somewhere that has the right equipment to do it....

Though I expect after a wash cycle to much damage may have been caused....
