Presentation I did about Dyspraxia

Post by Beneyriey »

Hi Guys, hope you're all having a good week so far.

I want to share with you something rather ironic thing that happened to me earlier. Personally, I thought the whole cofuddle was quite amusing!

So, today was presentation day at college. For those of you who don't know what presentation day; it is a day devoted to pitching movie ideas (as I study movie-making/media in college). I was eager to try my hardest and do as well as I possibly could. I was pitching an idea for an informative short-film to do with the dyspraxia, and how it affects many people, including myself. But, allow me to get one thing straight. My organization is awful! I thought I was pretty clever for arranging some notes (well, actually printed the entire slideshow) for me to use whilst doing the presentation. So, I had printed off a whole load of cue cards and pages for me to bring up whilst presenting. Again, I was feeling pretty chuffed with myself - as I had a pretty decent attempt at creating the cue cards. But, by the time I realized it was my turn to pitch, I started getting really nervous.

Ok, to start with, they were filming the entire thing(to send off for examination). So, as soon as they clicked record on the cam-recorder, ironically, I tripped over my shoe-laces (which were appropriately untied) and fell face-first onto the floor. This really didn't help my nerves, as I realised that I had screwed up real bad. Secondly, I forgot to arrange the slides in order. So, whilst I was presenting, I had a difficult time navigating myself through the pages and pages of slides - so I had to scroll through each and every slide to find the 'correct' slide. I wasted about six minutes of my time. And the camera picked up the mumbling that I made to myself whilst trying to sort everything out.. And thirdly (I know, I know), the laptop managed to re-start half way through the presentation, so I had to walk right in front of the camera, and re-start it again! It was hilariously awkward. I didn't help myself at all; I tried to improvise up on stage by rambling on about 'the advanced technology that I would try and incorporate into my movie' (don't ask me what I was going on about).

Unfortunately, the college didn't allow me to re-film it. But I hope you all see the irony in it!

Have a good weekend my friends,

Benjamin

Hi Benjamin

Thank you for sharing. It sounds like your dyspraxic-self got a little carried away in stealing the show and giving a practical demonstration of its ability to cause chaos. All credit for keeping going to the end and not just running for the nearest exit.

Hope you have a good weekend too

 bless you. This made me laugh so much.
I have in the past tried to explain dyspraxia and arrange meet ups and my dyspraxia has failed me terribly!
The irony of it all but we must never give up on raising more awareness.
