Very fussy eater
Can anyone else relate to being very fussy about food ? There are some things I do not like at all and one thing is I hate veg. Hands up any who hates it too? One thing I love a lot is Loucozade, I could drink it to a band playing.it is so refreshing I find Bryll with cię in the glass too. I also like to use the same plate to eat off at meal times and use the same cutlery and drink from the same mug or glass. I am very fussy too about what clothes I wear. I just like to wear cotton items of clothing. Nylon, and wool materials, irritate my skin and make me feel so uncomfortable. Can anyone else relate to anything I have said here or is it just me being very fussy? Sorry for rambling on. I don't even know if I am making any sense here or not but thanks for listning. Mopps
Re: Very fussy eater
I used to be very fussy, but as I've got older I have started eating more that I didn't used to. So I'd say I'm slightly fussy now.
Hopefully not making too many moot points... heh... *ahem*

Hi Mopps
Welcome. I'll eat most things though there are a few things I have a strong dislike of, for instance: marrow/courgette I don't very much like the texture;
Fish with little pin bones in or fiddly things like prawns where you end up with the inedible bits in your mouth and have to somehow discreetly (or probably not so discreetly in my case deal) with them. Liked them for a while but really dislike the texture again nowadays!
Liver - always have bad memories and just hate the taste/smell
I'm definitely one for cotton garments and cannot tolerate wearing scratchy fabrics or become too warm as it sets my eczema off!

I can relate to that - I am not really a fussy eater as such but there are some foods I don't like but that's quite normal however I can really not like a food if the texture is bad (I know this is more dyspraxic related).
Another food thing I do that others cant is I can seam to very easley go from one food to another. E.g. have a mouthful of say curry then the next be a ice cream or something and have no problem with it (people have said that's a bit weird).
I do prefer cotten clothing though its a much nicer texture and with the labels cut out as they are a annoyance.

Re: Very fussy eater
I was terrible as a kid, I refused to eat anything in the school dinners and would go all day without eating. I have got better as I have got older, but its taken a long time.
My personal thoughts is that fussy eating is often a way of having control over something when you feel everything else is out of your control. I know that is why I am. I was fine until I started school and then realized how different I was from everyone else. I only made improvements when I got to an age when I had control over my life and therefore felt able to be more adventurous with food.
I have also seen this in some of the students at school.

Re: Very fussy eater
I am an extremely fussy eater I always have been since the age of 7 or less I am now 23 almost 24 and have always had problems with food I can count on my fingers how many foods that I will eat I can put it here and I've had a lot of problems with my social life due to this and I have anxiety going to others houses and going to restaurants because of how fussy I am. I eat pizza, sausage rolls, dough balls, waffles, chips and I'm also the same with drinks I don't drink that many drinks diet coke, fanta fruit twist, lemonade and I will drink orange juice and vimto but it's a very limited diet and I know it's not very healthy at all and I used to eat more when I was younger but has gotten to this point where I hardly eat anything and I've also talked to the doctors about it and I'm wondering if it's a food disorder but I'm also not sure if it's something that dyspraxic's can go through as well,
Re: Very fussy eater
I've mentioned before that I have a lot of difficulties chewing different textures, it might be a problem a lot of dyspraxics have. I used to choke a lot on apples and pears, and also had difficulty with the texture of long spaghetti, but no problem with small pieces of pasta.
Re: Very fussy eater
I am not really effected when it comes to eating I will eat anything really as long as its nice however I did have issues with spaghetti to,
However I get a bit obsessed when it comes to eating food, I will only drink water, and only eat certain foods, as i don't like it when i have to eat different food unless I want to, currently I have a problem with salt and fats, I am forever checking stuff to see if has a low salt and fat and saturated fat amount if doesn't i wont eat it. Also everything I have in a packed lunch must be in an individual bag otherwise i worry it get dirty or its not clean to eat and annoys me. I am always washing my hands, before i eat and checking to make sure the cutlery hasn't got a fingerprint on it and is clean. I also swap my knife and fork around so i have my fork in my right hand and my knife in my left otherwise i cant pick food up with it and eat its a lot harder and annoys me.
When I go out to eat I always have the same mainly i as don't want to try other food in case its not nice, also I will only drink water or lemonade but when I had lemonade last it made me talk no stop about me and my interests and annoyed everyone else.
