My name is Anna, I am 29 and I am dyspraxic and dyslexic. I was formally diagnosed age 14 by Professor Amanda Kirby (that woman is my hero lol ) .
For the last seven years I’ve been teaching English as a foreign language in The Czech Republic, Spain and Portugal, it hasn’t always been an easy ride.but such is the nature of dyslexia and dyspraxia
I’ve always wanted to teach (or something education-related) but had I been any good at maths I may have just skipped the whole globe trekking malarkey and gone straight on to do a PGCE. As it is however, that illusive C in GCSE in Maths still remains just that. I am now starting an MA in Education with the Open University and am trying to re-take maths GCSE for the third time as I’d still really like to be teacher qualified.
I’m hoping to do a thesis related to the co-morbidity and causes of dyslexia/dyspraxia and related conditions but I dare say I will have got a PHD before I get blasted maths GCSE lol.
Anyway, as I’m now back in the UK for good, it would be really nice to chat to other like-minded folk. I’m really looking forward to getting to know you all.
