The Theory of Relativity
I'm a newbie. Sorry about the cryptic title but I feel I have at last discovered my problem at the age of 41. I am male and I have had problems talking, hyperactivity, anxiety, clumsiness and not being able to do the things my friends could - e.g. driving a car. I have to think very carefully before differentiating between my left and right and frequently loose. The doctors said I had problems with co-ordinating from an early age but back then nobody had heard of dyspraxia. In conversation I am never rude but I tend to gabble and interupt. After looking closely at this condition it seems to explain every event that has occured in my life and why things have been what they are make sense (a bit like enstein felt when he discovered his theory). It is only lately my parents drew my attention to the condition that has other branches to just clumsiness. It is great to feel I am not the only one with problems and as a bundle kinda have a logic. I would like a diagnosis but the doctors would not be interested especially as the outward evidence seems to show I have managed without it. Inside I would like more confirmation - has anyone advice?

Hi Skyrocket welcome to the forum.
ha ha love the title, I felt exactly the same when I found out about Dyspraxia through my son being diagnosed. The only advice I can offer really is just to go to the doctors anyway, it may not really help out in a practical way (as you mentioned most dyspraxic adults find a way of coping with the condition) but you may find just talking to an occupational therapist helpful.

Hi Skyrocket
Welcome to the forum or should we say fora. Personally I sort feel diagnosis hasn't put me any further forward. Pretty sure the D word is on my medical record but in many ways I've been in denial and determined to get along whatever and without being defined by the condition. That said it may be worth exploring you may be lucky and it may pay off. While things can be difficult at times comparatively I'm not doing too badly in that I have a job. I may not always enjoy it or like constant changes but I'm hanging on and trying to maintain a sense of humour.
It's difficult to know what to do and I'm sure the dyspraxia/dyspraxic tendencies have a hand (probably stirring a poker) in that!
Hope you feel less alone and feel free to ask about things on here or just vent if you need to
