Hi There

Post by rodge1991 »

Hi there,

My name is Robert, I'm 20 and I was diagnosed with Dyspraxia when I was 9. I never had the correct support throughout school and never knew anyone with Dyspraxia-which only added to the difficulty and frustration. I have joined Dyspraxia Teens a few months back and decided to join here as well so I can find out more about others gifted with the same affliction and make some friends.

Hi Rodge

Welcome to the forum, I have heard about dyspraxic teens but never joind myself as I didednt know about them when I was younger.
Unforantly your school life is quite commen for thoes with learning dysablities (dyspraxicia being one of them) so your not alone in this respect.

This forum as the name suggests is for adults manley - the avrage age range is between 20-40+ and the topics reflect this - e.g. about unie, work issues, living inderpendtly, family etc.

What is dyspraxic teens like and how does it compare to this forum?

As far as layout is concerned Dyspraxic Teens it is very similar to this site, but despite it's name it does have adults on it. The discussions sill have the likes of work, money, uni etc. But with the addition of school problems from teens. Even though I wasn't a teen when I joined, they still allow exceptions-especially as I was a teen recently.

I haven't been on this site long, but I think the only difference I can find is there are more mature topics here-ones that wouldn't appear on Dyspraxic Teens. As far as quality is concerned both sites are about the same.

Hi Rodge

I love this forum - it's great to be able to talk to folks who get the kind of special we are!!! I'm really old!!! but spent some time on the teen forum when I was first diagnosed - foks really helped me to understand/ come to terms with it but you're right - what is relevant to a teen sort of wanes with time
I'm 39 now!! and got disgnosed about 8 years ago, as a result I had no idea why on earth I was so different - in fact what I was told ' Ruth you're dyspraxic' i said 'oh, what's that!'
Been an interesting journey - this place is great. I've been away for a while but back for the support it offers.

Hope you like it and find it as supportive as much as I do

Hi rodge welcome to the forum.

From what I've heard Dyspraxic teens does seem like a good place to talk but at 31 I think I'm a little to old to join up now lol.

Sorry it's been a while, so many things happening I just haven't had the time to sit down and answer. I found that the best people to understand are those who live through it!
