Work Concerns

Post by ThePlacebo »

Hi Everyone,

I'm really having trouble with decisions regarding my career path. I'm in a state of almost perpetual worry, because even though I am a long way from graduating I can't see myself doing any job well enough to keep it. I've been thinking of potential jobs, and because my degree is in English and History secondary school teacher seems to come top of the list. I don't know if I'd be able to handle that though. I'd be quite happy with a low key job, maybe as a librarian or doing some typing work. The process of 1) finding a job that suits me 2) getting it and 3) keeping it is really daunting.

Has anybody else been in a similar situation and come through it? What kind of jobs do you think would suit? Any advice or personal anecdotes would be helpful.

I hear you. Stressed out myself at the moment. Am teacher by the way. Not the best job because of the the workload and the way it never ends. End up working 24/7. Am too tired to be helpful right now but will get back to you tomorrow when I can think straight. Sorry.

Not sure what opportunities there are these days but have you considered working in a museum or some related area? worth researching what companies organisations there are in your local area and who you know or could get to know connected with them. Good luck

That would be a good idea or maybe working in a library.
