My boss said to me recently that sometimes people thought I was on speed as I was talking a lot, and very fast. When I am excited, nervous or happy I talk a lot. He said I kept repeating myself. To which I almost replied who cares?
Is this a dyspraxia thing?

I think it must be cause I do the same thing....because I used to do it all the time but people would be looking at me so I kind of got it under control but now I just put my foot in my mouth all the time and it's possible to hear my gaffes because I got the other thing under control. I try to keep talking around my gaffe in the hopes that they'll be so confused that they'll forget what i've said....fix one problem and another pops up! I suppose it's like for someone with Tourettes....what a pain that would be

Yes , plus its also linked to stress and anxiety , also high mental brain function as well so you could also claim to be a genius

It wouldn't suprise me if it is because I have a proneness to doing this and also repeating myself as well when I speak.

I think you put yourself down a little here, and you should ignore the twit who asked you if you were on speed. The very nature of the question suggests they may have taken it them self.
It's true that Dyspraxia can effect the way in which we speak. I have battled speech difficulties all my life with pronunciation being particularly difficult for me.
But I also know a whole lot of other people who aren't in the slightest bit dyspraxic who talk a lot, at volume and at speed, and over others who also talk a whole load of gobshyte. I would assume that is the norm in all honesty. And if these people have a problem with the way you speak then it is them who are being ignorant, not you.

It's very easy to start putting yourself down isn't it? On a bad day, I'll feel really inferior to other people. Also, you have to remember that sometimes it's just a case of a clash of personalities. Some people will like you the way you are and others won't like certain things - whether or not you're dyspraxic. But it is hurtful when people say things to you and then you become more self-conscious.
I've been told I talk over the top of people. I've never had a problem with my speech as such, except other times I'll get a bit tongue-tied if I'm nervous, but that's more nerves, I don't have a problem speaking when I feel comfortable with people. In fact then you can't she me up!
I think also we need to concentrate on the "good side" of dyspraxia. Often I think we're more caring and tolerant of other people. We understand that people can't always control what they do and they find it difficult to learn things. Sometimes we just need a bit of extra time and patience to learn, that's all.

Talking continuously and repeating yourselves or having unclear speech or not being able to pronounce some words properly, also speech may have a uncontrolled pitch, volume and rate are all problems that may occur if you have Dyspraxia

I find it hard to be heard in a conversation, either I'm blanked or ill repeat myself five times and then give up because people say 'what' over and over, but then they'll say that I don't speak up but I think I'm speaking very loudly. I tend to stumble on words or forget what I'm saying and then get really confused and rather embarrassed.
