rationalisation

Post by bumbleguff »

This has probably been asked before and might be again but does anyone else have problems with thinking and sorting things out "rationally". I feel a bit annoyed at myself that i still have not found any way to stop my washing machine mind over taking the real me, this is often emphasised with alot of waffle where panic sets in and leaves me with a huge dent in my confidence #-o .
Probably people wont understand what i mean, but if by some small chance you do and have a way to cope could you please share it with me
thankyou :boxedin:

Dyspraxia , literally means what you describe (Dys greek for inability - Praxia = meaning action).

Its how our brains are weird they really do this all the time , some days worse then others , its about finding mechanisms that work for you , individually. Its what all our coping mechanisums are about . :D

I know exactly what you mean. I saw a tapestry once that was like 2 balls of string all messed up and I thought it looked exactly what my brain should look like! When things are really stressful and there is too much going on I have to talk it through someone else like a life coach but if there is only one thing going on at a time I just list out all the problem things that are bothering me, what I want to achive and how I am going to get there. I try to work out on paper what I'm going to do to fix the problems because if I don't have it down on paper it wil be rushing around my brain like you said and only stressing me out more. If my self-esteem is taking a battering I list out all the wonderful things I've achieved. I go into plenty of detail here. I hope that helps a bit.

Yup, I can defiantly relate to that the only way I can try and explain my brain to people is kind of a big swirling mass of stuff covered by a mist (abstract I know but its the best I can do) and whenever I need something I have to go bobbing for thoughts in my head (even weirder) and sometimes random stuff just kinda pops out.
The best way I've found of coping is trying not to rush my thought processes and if I have a big problem just try and break it down into smaller sub tasks and work on each in turn (writing them down actually sounds like a good idea though)
But ultimately as Osymandus says its different for everyone but that's what works for me.

I use a technique called minfullness. Its about noting the thoughts and labbeling them whilset focusing on breathing. It helps me calm down when I have general anxiety about a particular event or something on my mind which I can't seem to pinpiont.
Also, relaxation exercizes, there are so many mp3's on amazon to download for 79 p. When i am stressed and tired I can hardly sting a sentance together properly rlaxation helps a lot, too a point though. I am yet to find a cure that works full time or actaulley remember to be mindfull when I have a hge task ahead of me.
