Too strong or too weak

Post by Grackle »

I have this thing where I use either too much strength or not enough to do something. Like, I smoke and often I go to take a drag and discover that I dropped the cigarette on the ground because I forgot to keep holding it. On the other side, I will accidentally snap it in half. Both of these get much worse in the winter when I'm wearing gloves (I only smoke outside so wearing gloves is necessary) and snapping and dropping smokes (into a pile of snow) is a frustration.

Another example is when I took tennis lessons. When I managed to hit the ball it was always too hard - like it would go over the fence around the court and bounce off parked cars

Anyone else do this?

Yup , or used to anyway (on occasion i might ) , you propably and it may sound odd want to look at martial arts . Wing Chun or Tai chi for instance will help with touch ans sensitivity plus control (focused) control of your limbs and muscles . You might want to add a bit of meditation to the mix as well , try to get yourself in a natural relaxed state , and take things slowly .

You may just also have under-sensitive touch (the thalamus part of our brain that receives sensory information is underdeveloped in Dyspraxics ) . Youy can also have stuff like squash balls or anything that improves tactile touch for instance

I am ALWAYS doing everything too soft or too strong. When I was a kid I used to go on those dance machines in arcades and everyone was always convinced I was gonna break them cos I had to stamp so hard to keep in time with it. Same thing happens now with the Wii fit board. I don't smoke but I'm endlessly dropping pens and pencils that I seem to forget I'm holding. Totally agree with the friendly pokes etc being too hard as well. I think it's a similar thing that made driving and handwriting difficult too (pressed way too hard with pens/pencils and was totally incapable of making small movements with the clutch at first). I swear sometimes I stamp a little bit when I walk as well but maybe I'm just imagining that.

I type too hard, and have worn out a couple of keyboards. But I have noticed when I'm baking that I can only make small amounts as my wrists get tired and sore.

Yeah I hate it when the chalk breaks....and I scratch the board with my nails. :- but I don't like writing on a whiteboard because I get no resistance so my writing is just awful on it.....the pen slides all over the place. I think my typing is a bit better now that I'm working on a laptop not sure why.
