Hello

Post by Pieman »

Hi there. My name is Dave. I'm 26 and have got to this stage in life struggling with stuff that my mates found easy like playing sport, walking without tripping over, being tidy, writing very badly etc. I got in trouble a lot at school because of the difficulties i was having because i got bored easily and messed around a lot. My teachers always told me i was scruffy and couldnt write properly but i tried my hardest and did quite well.

Iv'e been working with children with Autism for the last 7 years and i work in a specialist autism unit now so i was made aware of dyspraxia and the difficulties that come with it.

I think I may have dyspraxia but I'm not really sure what to do now. My collegues think i am dyspraxic and I scored very highly on the DORE test. I dont really know if i need to do anything - i just know that it would give me a few answers to why i had so many difficulties when i was growing up and why i didn't grow out of it!!

Dave :)

Hi, welcome to the forum. I'm also 26 and was diagnosed with dyspraxia when I was 15by an ocuupational therapist.
I volunteer for a dyslexia organisation, at a charity shop and at my local library.
You don't need to do anything if you are managing ok at work with your difficulties.
