Dyspraxia Football Team
Hi my names Dominic and I have Dyspraxia and for years my main social problems have been with dancing and football. This has affected me forming relationships in the past. But I have always wanted to play football and people say that it's too late and I have missed the boat. Does anyone else feel like this they wish they could learn to play football like everyone else? So I was thinking it might be a good idea to organise a football team so we can work together and get a trainer to try and improve our football skills. Perhaps then we could organise a football match for people with Dyspraxia to improve our skills. Who's with me on taking this idea further?

sounds like a good idea

I joined a disability football team at age 13 (I think) and turned into their best player by age 18 (well defensively at least) and got the captaincy at age 19. I can't do the fancy tricks you see Ronaldinho/Messi doing, but in my opinion if you want to do those, you should be in the circus, not the football pitch.
My best advice Dominic is to find a disability team near you and join them. As for forming a football team, well i'd be happy to help, but due to my work schedule it would probably be difficult.

Re: Dyspraxia Football Team
I think it's a sound idea & at least it would be genuine football (as opposed to the passionless drivel our players have been putting out lately).
How are we going to make it fun for Dyspraxics though? My main experience with sport is being the last on the bench & I'm sure I'm not alone. Maybe we could give it some sort of Dyspraxic twist to make it more creative - kinda like QI - most creative player wins or stg.
Potentially I think a Dyspraxic could make a better player than a normal person, as we can be quite unpredictable & quirky. We should certainly see if there are any gifted players out there - question is: where to meet?

I wouldn't mind playing with fellow dyspraxics but I personally can't see it happening.
