Basic requirements whe looking for love

Post by cat27 »

Hi all, i would like to ask for your opinion on a certain matter. I was most upset when my brother charmingly informed me that when it comes to men, i am just too fussy and need to lower my standards! [-o< I pray this isn't true, and would like to know what others think

Here are a few basic requrirements

1) have own head of hair (at least for the next 10 years)
2) own their own set of teeth (at least untill their 70, then i doubt ill care!)lol
3) practice basic hygiene ( wash on a daily basis, brush teeth twice a day ect)

Personality wise

1) are kind and thoughtful
2) are understanding of differences, and don't expect everyone to act like clones!
3) have "gentleman" like manners ( open doors, don't fart or belch just for fun, see their dates to their frontdoor, don't
pressurerise their dates/girlfriends for anything they are not ready for)
4) see family and friends as more important than their "career"
5) are supportive of their girlfriend/partners aspirations, and see them as just as important as their own
6) are open minded, to some extent at least, but do not have any weird perversions
7) don't like cricket, golf or other boring spectator sports
8) share the tv remote fairly
9) are willing to help with household chores

i think all these things are perfectly resonable, i bet all the girls on the forum think the same, at least about some of these things ( but then maybe this is why i'm still single!)

I agree with you but you will have to go along way to find a man who:

3) have "gentleman" like manners ( open doors, don't fart or belch just for fun, see their dates to their frontdoor, don't
pressurerise their dates/girlfriends for anything they are not ready for)
4) see family and friends as more important than their "career"
5) are supportive of their girlfriend/partners aspirations, and see them as just as important as their own
6) are open minded, to some extent at least, but do not have any weird perversions
7) don't like cricket, golf or other boring spectator sports
8) share the tv remote fairly
9) are willing to help with household chores

I would love to find a man with all those attributes but I think these days you may have to plump for maybe 2 or 3 of the items on the wish list if you are very lucky! :D

1) are kind and thoughtful

There are a few of us that can do this

2) are understanding of differences, and don't expect everyone to act like clones!
see 1)

3) have "gentleman" like manners ( open doors, don't fart or belch just for fun, see their dates to their frontdoor, don't
pressurerise their dates/girlfriends for anything they are not ready for)

The problem is knowing when your being gentlemanly or being patronising, but there are gentlemen out there.

4) see family and friends as more important than their "career"

Again, you might see this, but there's still a strong "provider" mentality with us men

5) are supportive of their girlfriend/partners aspirations, and see them as just as important as their

Some of no 4 here again, but I know of a few couples where the woman does make more than the man or the man looks after the kids, so it isn't impossible to find a guy who will do it

6) are open minded, to some extent at least, but do not have any weird perversions

Depends on your definition of weird....

7) don't like cricket, golf or other boring spectator sports

There are guys who don't like sport, but it's a case of getting the balance right.

8) share the tv remote fairly

Easy, two TVs....

9) are willing to help with household chores

Usually a good firm shove with a pointed stick sorts this

The only advice I can give is to keep looking, you'll find someone who's willing to change a bit for you, and your willing to change a bit for, and you'll be very happy together

Ok so maybe you guys are right (arrgh! i hate it when other people are right) on their own (or just a few)these qualities are quite possible, but all together well the man has not been born yet (and probably never will be) therefore my list now looks like this

1) basic hygiene (wash on daily basis, brush teeth twice a day etc)
2) own hair (at least for the next 10 years)
3) own teeth (at least until their 70)
4) kind and thoughtful

I suppose i was being rather petty, most couples have their own interests, and yes having 2 TVs is a very good idea,
plus i realise that i myself am far from most guys idea of the perfect woman.

That revised list is easily achievable, I myself have a full head of hair (best before 2014), only two fillings, shave and bathe regularly and have been known to be kind... ;)

I think I have my own wish list:

1) Must not smoke....
2) Must like cats (as not getting rid of my cat for any man!)

Other than that I am fairly flexible.... :)

Thanks liz!
you have just made my list get bigger again! Of course it goes without saying that this guy is a nonsmoker,
it comes under the hygiene rule! (though admittedly i forgot to add it for some reason) and as a fellow cat lover i
have to agree with you, no man is worth getting rid of my cat for! Anyway my list now looks like this! (arghh not again)

1) has own head of hair (for a while anyway!)
2) has set of own teeth (while still young) I well actually i hope well into old age but you can't be too fussy!
3) washes daily and cleans teeth twice a day
4) nonsmoker
5) must not be allergic to cats (otherwise will apperciate that i love my cat and he stays!) again this would come under
kindness :)

I would want someone I felt totaly comfortable with and I completley trusted.
I can't imagine being in love. It feels unreal, like a dream.

I think that the hardest thing must be finding someone you trust totally!
I have friends who i have known for years, and i thought i knew them, but
in reality i never knew them, and when they let you down it comes as a complete
shock, to be on honest i don't think it is fair to expect too much of people anyway, :(
disappointing as that sounds.
