Hello, I'm the wife of one of your newest members, and I'm here to support him but also to share my own experiences of living with somebody who (we now think) might have been dispraxic all his life without being diagnosed.
He's suffered so much through the years, and blamed himself. It's my hope that he can find some support and understanding here, and finally "let himself off the hook" for what he sees as failures.
A question, right off the bat, would be: is it possible that this condition has been caused by the physical abuse he suffered as a young boy - many times being hit in the head, and to the point of being knocked out, plus of course the mental stress, and subsequent accidents in his youth. Is this always a developmental problem in the womb, or can it be caused by injoury. He may have both of course.
His sister does have fybromyalgia. Both of them suffered from the troubled situation in their family but my husband endured more, and for longer.
Watson.

My understanding is that Dyspraxia is a genetic condition which can sometimes skip a generation, but I'm not a doctor.
The Dyspraxia Foundation have a great website; http://www.dyspraxiafoundation.org
There is loads of information on here and you might find some answers. They also give details of support groups etc.
Good Luck.x

Re: Finding you today was a relief
Hi
I am new on here too. I too suffered physical abuse as a child, and yes my head was the target, but it had nothing to do with my dyspraxia, just an uncaring parent! Although it hasn't helped with my dislike of being touched! I try never to look back though only look forwards.
Knowing that you are dyspraxic I think is the first way to start to go easy on yourself for not being as 'perfect' as you would like to be.
