What is wrong with you
do you have any reflexes?
if you stand with your feet together n close your eyes do you topple over?

hmm
usually find that I am swaying after about a second, and then having to correct the sway by taking a step foward after about 4 seconds, otherwise I will fall
so tend not to do it very often.

Heh, I'm often told I've no reflexes at all.

Ooh that sounds promising! Well obviously noone wants to have something wrong with them but if I could just get diagnosed with dyspraxia it would make me so happy, because then its something I know about not some unknown genetic weird thing that is unpredictable. I have no reflexes! I'm going for neuropsychology tests in June to see about dyspraxia although the neurologist said that he thinks my balance/reflex/nerve problems are probably seperate to the other dyspraxic symptoms I have, we think hes just saying that because he is a really high up neurologist and he wants everything to have its own diagnosis and stuff I don't really remember
The only thing is that my sister has the exact same nerve problems, only she hasn't ever shown any of the other symptoms I have so it is weird. But then Don't they say that dyspraxia is different for everyone and is more a collection of symptoms rather than one specific thing with these specific things wrong?

yeah, well like I said before it is better to know, than being left in Wonderland!! at least then you can come to accept it, rather than wonder what is wrong all the time, but it is better to get tested for other stuff as well, just to be on the safe side.

Re: What is wrong with you
Well! I just saw the neuropsycholoogist today and nothings concrete but she said it sounds like it is dyspraxia. But she also said the bit of the brain causing my balance issues could also control the cognition type stuff, as in patients with tumours located in the cerebellum they have similar symptoms... I do not have a brain tumour but its a good explanation... but then maybe thats what dyspraxia is anyway.. the point is that this is new research and it may have not trickled through to the actual neurology field yet as it was psychology research, so neurologists might not know. Thought that might be interesting to everyone here with dyspraxic problems!
I'm just happy because when I go into 3rd year of my degree in September I will definately be getting extra exam time, a laptop and maybe my own room if possible plus extra 1 to 1 tuition and stuff!!! I was worried about how hard it would be but I can see myself actually managing to get a degree now

I think my relexes are ok, but I will fully fall over if I stand and close my eyes. Its a bit of a comedy trick when I'm trying to explain to people what Dyspraxia is.Emmur wrote:do you have any reflexes?
