Dentists

Post by Liz944 »

I know a few of the forum have recently had teeth out.... hope you are feeling better.

A quick question for you.... Has anyone had trouble with the local anesthetic injections kicking in when having teeth taken out?

I ask as I have had my wisdom teeth taken out before and no trouble... I have one tooth which needs to be taken out this time but for some reason I have been to the dentist twice now and both times the injections fail to make the area numb enough to take the tooth out even though they have given me the maximum dose they can.

I am going back for the third time... at the end of the month to try yet again... to be honest getting really fed up as I just want the tooth out as it is really painful...
Drama is life with the dull bits cut out...

I have that problem, which is why I have to go to the Dental Anasthetic Clinic to be put completely out to have any teeth out.

In 2 of the teeth I've had out (I've had 4 out all together) the anastetic didn't fully work, one a bit nasty, the root of the tooth was twisted like a corkscrew and was pulling at the entire left part of my jaw. it left quite a crater in my gum thats still there today. That wasn't too bad though but the other was quite a horror story, I could feel everything. When I tenced in the chair the dentest asked if I could feel anything, I told him I could fell everything.
He took another anesthic and jabbed it through the centre of the tooth straight into the nerve and that hurt like hell, probibly the most painful thing I've ever experianced, far more painful then the toothache. I wouldn't say I cried, I sort of did that thing where itsl not a cry, it;s like your tear ducks explode from shock and your whole face fills with blood and the needle seemed to go on forever.

...now I brush my teeth every night.

I had all my wisdom teeth out this august - but I had it done under a general anaesthetic because was fairly intrcate and involved avoiding nerves, so had to be done in the hospital.

In fact had a check up today and the dentist asked me: "Did they drill much to get it out?" And I had to tell her with the straightest face I could: "I have no idea, I was unconscious at the time!"

i'm terrified of the dentist, i haven't been in years.

however, it's come to the point where i am so self conscious of my teeth (one of my front teeth is twisted) that i really think i need to have something done about it...i've started looking into private treatment because they seem to offer a lot more help for people with anxiety, but it's going to cost about £4000 for the orthodontics alone!

i don't know what to do :*(

Teeth and feet: two things that I think people need to take care of through out their lives.
