Rocking back and forth
Sometimes from side to side as well. Does anyone here do this? It's very common and apparently not necessarily a sign of mental disturbance (as some people think!) but it can be a problem if it bothers other people or makes them think you're crazy. Someone I sat with in class did it too, but people didn't mention it to her much because it wasn't as exaggerated as with me. Once my friend told me to stop because people were staring and it looked like my head was going to go through the computer screen! And I didn't know I was doing it at all! It happens more when I'm concentrating or anxious or when I'm sitting on something with no back support. Last year it got so bad that people complained to the school that it was distracting them in exams. I don't seem to have done it in college at all this year, so I wonder if it's stress-related. I still do it on the computer at home though, like when I'm thinking about what to type right now.

I am the same, can't sit still, and another anoying thing for other people to see is that I shake my leg when sitting sometimes, and really gets on my friends nerves! yet I don't know I am doing it 75% of the time.
as for sitting on school chairs I extremely rarely sat with the 4 legs on the floor, I was one of the ones that would swing on 1 leg!! but never more than 2 legs on the ground!!
so no it isn't uncommon!
