Post by Meg »

My claims to fame are:

* Boris Becker
* Sue Barker
* Phillipuses and roderick (mens finals of Wimbledon in 2003 ok ok so I watched them on the pitch.
* Kevin Doyle (Reading Football player) pulling up next to me on my driving lesson last week.

This is one hopefully the over 25s will remember! I met the Shih Tzu dog that attacked Gordon the Gopher live on Going Live! I also wrote an article for a mag called Fast Forward which was about the vet that took the dog on Going Live, Nigel Taylor.
I met Take That twice, years n years ago, and they remembered me cause I met em just 11 days apart. I was also in a crowd picture on the cover of their Everything Changes CD single.
I was on a teacher training tv prog called Common Bonds when some ppl came to my school to film us tellling each other stories, saw a video of it beforehand, but I missed it when it was aired!
I've been in the local paper a couple of times too.
Bit sad aint I really! :-k :whistle:

Wow, we've got some corking claims to fame here. What a well connected lot you all are! I can't claim much to compare with that lot at all. My uncle used to be bass guitarist for David Hasselhoff and Chris de Burgh. My parents once went to lunch at Cliff Richard's house. I saw David Attenborough at Tottenham Court Road tube station once, or rather my Mum did as she spies famous folk *every* time she's in London, and sometimes even in my hometown! One of the main BBC weather presenters is the sister to someone we know around here.

Oh, and I once happened to be passing through Leicester Square one time when the Harry Potter premiere was taking place (1st film I think) so I glimpsed Robbie Coltrane amongst others. Oh yeah, and I met Greg Dyke at a media conference thing I went to years ago.

There might be more but I'm not interested in celebs really, and if I've forgotten I guess they it couldn't have been such interesting occasions either!

Indeed I do. Election time is a much more drab place without him. Are there still fun minor political parties out there, or are they all serious or evil these days? (e.g. the BNP and UKIP - both parties from the dark side IMHO!)

The mention of Royalty reminds me that Princess Alexandra came to our school once and granted us a half day off every year; something for which we would always be grateful; and she also happened to be the chancellor of my Uni. Prince Charles also saw it fit to land his helicopter on our school field once, so we all had to stand in a ring around the field to greet him. He wasn't visiting the school though, it's just that handy helipads are few and far between around here.

I didn't know who Screaming Lord Sutch was until 3 days later when my training adviser came to see me and told me! He was staying in the pub/B&B I was working in. I didn't recognise him without his tall hat! Plus I was only 16 then and hardly knew a thing about politics. I thought he was really weird to be honest, bless him.
