the Welsh assembly elections (in Wales obviously

) and the local elections for England are coming up on May 3rd - how many peple are voting and who are you voting/ or maybe who are you making a point of not voting for?

I didn't even realise there were upcoming elections around here until I drove through the top end of Kendal yesterday on my driving lesson and saw Conservative and Lib Dem signs all over the place. I've not seen any election related things more locally though so I'm not at all sure if we're having any elections here or not. There's lots on the news about the elections in Scotland, though, as it seems to be a fair battle between Labour and the SNP, the latter obviously being in favour of Scottish independence.

I think I may be voting in the local elections (but I am not sure whether we have a vote this time round - as I have not seen any leaflets been posted through our door yet or about the city centre,

As for picking who I am voting for is another matter or what method I will used to help me

Depending on the date the Scottish Parliamentary elections take place I will be ragged out of the house to vote {if it falls on a day I have an exam I won't get a chance to unless my dad speeds down the motorway on the way back home}. I'm hoping to be able to though ^_^.

If memory serves it's the 8th of May. Our ITV station covers the Scottish borders so I get to hear about what's happening north of the border. If you find you can't vote you could always do the postal vote or vote by proxy, by allowing someone you trust to vote on your behalf.

A few LibDem signs have appeared in sign, but I've still heard no word about any elections here, so I'm unclear as to what's going on. Maybe there are some particularly enthusiastic supporters 'round these parts or maybe the election blurb is slow in coming around. At local elections you tend to get some smaller parties getting a look in. I think to the south of here the independents have control of the council. I think they're called the People's liberation front of Morecambe, or is it the Morecambe People's liberation front??

Thanks Dan I don't have an exam on that day so I can vote for myself ^_^. Trying to figure out who to vote for though

. Ah well I'l have a look at what everyone's parroting for their parties and make my decision nearer to election day.

It'd be interesting to see what the parties are saying north of the border. I caught a SNP party election broadcast on TV and that was all about it being 'time' for an independent Scotland (lots of clocks involved in the ad, lol). Since Cumbria isn't about to form a break away republic any time soon, I'll be following events in Scotland with interest.

Gomababe - would you be tempted to vote for an independent Scotland? It strikes me as one of those ideas that sounds good in principle but might not work out as well in practice, but who knows! I've not heard that much about the details of it all yet. So long as they don't bring in passport checks next time I go to Edinburgh I won't mind!
